Ds 5 went round to a mates house after school last week for the first time without me. He had a great time while I was extremely nervous.
Since then the mum had been asking if he'll come round for a sleepover, I've been trying to put her off saying 'I don't think he'd stay' and 'he'd be too upset' and the likes (actually he'd probably be fine) but I think it's too young...when did you first let your lo's have a sleepover (I mean other than family)?

OMG at 5..!!!!!!!!!!!!

DD starts school this sept and has NEVER slept away from home. Not even at gp's....

I do not envisage her staying out for at least another 15 years .

Of course, their friends are welcome for a stopover here .

Mine are 5 and enarly 7 and haven't expressed the desire to sleep over at friends yet (though dd's best friend slept over here with no probs). I'll let them when they feel ready.

DS1 was 4 before I could bring myself to let him sleep over at nanny and grandads. Since then he's slept at his aunties house and at a friends, all within the last 6 months. Only once have I had to pick him up and that was cos I forgot to pack him a

DS2 on the other hand was just over 1 when he had his first sleep over at nannies. They are very close and are experienced with babies however so I had no worries and he was spoilt rotten

Depends on the child I think (and more so the nervous disposition of the mum dare I say )
