Taking night nappy off - where from here ?

Ds was 3 this week - he has been out of nappies in the day for a year (his choice, I wasn't going to even think about it for ages), and is fine.

This week he has been announcing that he was a big boy now and doesn't want a night nappy on. Last night he had obviously taken it off in the night as there was a dry nappy on the floor, and a wet bed. Other nights I have either had to sneak a nappy on to him before I go to bed, or fought about it. In the morning he is really upset to have wee'd in the nappy.

He always has a wee before bed at 7, and is dry at 11.

So, should I lift him for a wee and go for it? Or just only use popper nappies that he can't undo in his sleep ?

This happened with my dd1, when she was about the same age. She didn't like being in a wet nappy and was getting nappy rash, so we lifted her at about 10 pm every evening. She awoke and used the potty fine, and always went back to sleep again no problems.

Ah, dd is just 4 and we're having a similar problem. Her pull-up is always wet in the morning, more than one wee I think, so I'd just not considered it. But the other night about 10mins after putting her to bed she said she needed a poo, so down we went, and she'd already weed in her pull-up, the lazy so-and-so.

So, I thought, I bet she's doing a lazy wee before she drops off and a big wee in the morning when she wakes up. So (I'm getting there, honest!) the other night we tried without one. She went for no less than 7 wees (well, she didn't wee every time - ah, the novelty) in the hour following bed time, and woke me at 3am with a plaintive 'muuumeeeee' with a soaking wet bed. She then didn't do one until she woke.

So, last night on went the pull-up again. She really doesn't want to wear them as they 'stick to her bum' and 'go all floppy' and she has to take it off as soon as she's awake, but she obviously still needs to wee in the night.

So, similar question to OP (sorry for hijack, was going to start my own thread when I saw this!). Should I stop using the pull-ups (she is 4, bless her) and lift her in the night?

to help save your bedding/mattress my only suggestion is that you buy some bed mats, to help soak up some of that wee

Fortunatly, DS condescended to wear a nappy tonight - will check on him later to see that it is still on.

Have folded a towel under his sheet jic - at least the Stokke mattress has a removable, washable cover anyway

we have been through exactly this in hte last week. in the end dd1 got fed up of having a wet bed all night - having to have it changed 3 times a night on average despite a lifting at 10ish. she is earing nappies again for the time being.

Bed mats are fab. I'm a cloth nappy person all the way but I love these!
DD2 is just out of night nappies (having asked for a good 4 months before we felt up to it ) - we've only had wet beds when we haven't lifted her at our bedtime.
