Have had a really hard time lately, and now ds poorly, seeing doc this afternoon.

Normally he only gets c beebies bedtime hr,and charges around for at least half of it.however the past couple of days the telly has been on a lot more..feel like a bad mummy!

Ps we still read loads of stories, and play etc, can't take him to the park as torrential rain...

Children's TV was invented just for days like today . Relax - hope things get better.

Don't worry about it one iota.
My DS is a REALLY active little boy (2) and the only time I can get things done around the house on my days off is to plonk him in front of the telly for a while in the morning, and again when I'm making dinner in the evening.
If I don't do this, he just follows me around (not good at playing on his own), climbs on chairs etc, so I despair at not being able to do anything.
It's the only solution for me, and it doesn't bother me, because we also play together and go out and about lots. I feel his life is very rich and varied. And TV is part of that.

If he is unwell, a day or two in front of the box will do him more good than going to the park! He needs to rest, keep warm and recuperate.

I wouldn't worry about it, childrens TV is your friend. I would do exactly the same if I were you.

FIne for a few days of poorliness.
DOn't give it a second thought.
Snuggle up.

willali · 19/05/2009 12:19

it is in fact compulsory

Why oh why do mums get so het up about tv? (Am not referring to the OP, by the way, but tv for children is looked down on so much on MN. It's another debate that the self-righteous brigade just love to get their smug hand on.
I see nothing wrong with letting children watch it, as long they are not glued to it all day.

think maybe i partly feel bad as ds is so desperate to be active (despite being in no fit state bless him - can't explain that one to a 16mo!)

also as i am feeling so rough myself, and have been for weeks now. just want to be a 'proper' mummy with energy for my gorgeous little monster!

today's big challenge is getting from the house to the doc's (don't drive) which i could do without, partly cos the doc will ask how i am and i don't want to cry in front of ds!

telly is off now btw... but then, ds is asleep!
