I have a 4.5 DD but am expecting twins late July. I expect our nappy bills to be very expensive, so wondered if anybody could recommend a website offering discounts for bulk buying disposable nappies? Thank you .

Would you consider cloth? You really would save an absolute fortune. Even if you did it half and half you would still save alot of money. Contact a local nappy advisor to have a look at what's available. Get her to explain drypailing (literally putting your dirty nappies into a dry bucket which is lined with a mesh bag) When the bucket is full, or every other day or so, lift the whole mesh bag out of the bucket and pop it into the washing machine. That's as difficult as it gets. With twins you would need to wash every 2 days. rather than every 3 days. And you'd save yourself bewteen £2500 and £3000! If you want any further info please PM me, or ask on here. Some nappy advisors wll give discounts for twins (I do) or you may need to actually be a TAMBA member. But remember you could do half and half to start with to make it easier on yourself.

My daughter's in cloth now, but when we used dispoables I found the cheapest way that worked for us was lidl nappies (always cheap and worked fine) or bulk-buying pampers whenever anyone did the third off thing.

No cloth nappies thank you purplesal, I'll have enough shit on my plate with twins and 4.5 year old, IYSWIM - I'm very green in all other areas, but just cannot face the whole storing and washing crappy nappies, thing.

Will check out the Lidl ones afterglow, but not sure they do them for really little babies, which I'm assuming my twins will be.

Thank you ladies.

Oh well, I tried!!

Although I would rather store pooey nappies for 2 days and then wash them. Than store them for 2 weeks in my wheelie bin - especially in the summer!!!

If you become a member of the Boots Parenting club they seem to send vouchers regularly for £3.50 off Pampers when you order the big box (not sure how many nappies that is?)from Boots online. Not sure about the p and p though. Hth and congrats on your pregnancy .

Just a note about the cloth nappies - you don't need to soak them, just bung them in a bin lined with a nappy mesh and then lift the whole lot and pop into your machine = minimal handling. You can use liners to catch the poo, and pop down the loo = less storing of pooey nappies than your disposables which will fill a bin or two each week!
Also don't feel you have to use them full time, most people I knwo with twins use some cloth some disposables and save ££££ in costs. Furthermore many councils offer cash back or vouchers now, with twins you claim twice but with twins you don't need as many nappies per baby as you do for one.
You may also find, as most twin mums tell me, that twins have a tendency to be born on the skinny side = disposable nappies leak. If you use a washable nappy + separate wrap you'll get so much better containment you won't have to wash the poo out of vest, babygros - or hair!

I agree cloth would probably be the easier option. I have 2 in washables at the moment and it is actually easier than when I had just DD1 in washables. This is because I have enough nappies to wash each day, so no need to have any hanging around (and my weelie bin is only emptied every 2 weeks - GROSS!). DD2 is 1 month old and on the odd time she has worn a disposable (pampers and huggies) - every single poo has leaked, so I have ended up changing vest and baby grow = more washing than one nappy would have been.

Anyway, you seem quite set on disposables - do you have any way of getting a costco card? They sell pampers, huggies and their own brand (kirkland). The Kirkland nappies are the only ones I found not to leak on my 1 year old on the occasions she wears disposables. But the huggies are very cheap there too. Not sure how much the pampers work out as DD1 is alergic to the chemicals and crap they have in them and I hate the smell of them when they are wet so never buy them.
