Cloth nappies at night - how often do you change?

Am desperately trying to come up with reasons why my 12 week old won't settle at night .

He goes down around 7:30, then I feed and change him at 11ish. He needs another feed around 3 or 4 but at this time he's soaking so I nee to change him again. I'm nervous that even when he doesn't need feeding he will still wake out of discomfort.

How often do you change your LO during the night? Do fleece wraps help? I can't remember what I did with DS1 but he seemed much less sensitive to wet nappies than this little pickle.

We have Tots Bots bamboozles.

unless he has pooed, not at all. Add extra boosters, and fleece liners will stop him feeling the wet.

He will look bulky, but he will be fine.

We don't change at all overnight. During the day she gets grumpy if i don't change her about every 3 hours, but overnight we put her in either an Ella's house bumhugger or a Tots Bots Fluffle and she's happy in that from about 6.30pm until she gets dressed in the morning at around 8.30am.

He always seems to be pooing! Greensnail, does she still feed in the night, or is that from 6:30?

Yes, she usually has one feed during the night (she's 20 weeks now). I can't remember when we stopped changing nappies during the night, I think it was before 12 weeks but maybe not much before. She would have been having 2-3 feeds during the night at that stage.

We're lucky that she only does a poo every 4 days so that's not a problem overnight. If he's always pooing you're probably going to have to continue with the night changes for a while until he grows out of that.

I found bamboozles useless daytime and nights...but more so of a night.

I don't feed in the night though. I had to change ds2 this morning at 4,30 but then he had been sparko from 5.30pm the night before....he woke up for a bottle at 4.30am

If you can afford it, I would invest in a proper night nappy, which you will probably need eventually anyway. My Favorite night nappy are Upsy Daisy night nappies (UDNN) but I know a lot of people also swear by Wee notions night notions (WNNN). If you buy the UDNN brand new, they start at around £10 a nappy. I would say to get french soy if you do get them as it is so absorbant and slim fitting. My DD is a very heavy wetter (16 months though!) and these are the best nappies we have found for nights. You won't have to change at all with these. They sell on very well too.

My other DD is 2 weeks and soaks a size 1 bamboozle in 6 hours (she sleeps 12-6am). She doesn't leak out of them yet, but will do very soon.

Any nappy is a good night nappy with the right amount of boosters.

i never change at night unless smelly.

I would suspect your little one doesn't settle because he's 12 weeks old and hungry! nothing to do with wetness of nappy

thisisyesterday · 13/05/2009 20:28

we use minki nappies (standard ones) at night. or wee notions (not night time ones cos they didn't make them when I got mine) or baby beehinds

fruitstick · 13/05/2009 20:56

yesterday, I know you're right but quite often he is sodden at his middle of the night feed and I would rather not have to get out of bed and change him. I'm sure it doesn't wake him up but I think it does stop him settling back down easily.

Jenny Penny, I do not want to know that your 2 week old sleeps from 12 til 6
Am off to look into night nappies, thank you ladies.
