Ds2 is potty trained but still wears nappies for bed, need tips for weening him off them please

We co-sleep so i dont want to be waking up to a pee-filled bed

Is it nessacary to use those dry night sheet thingys, they are quite expensive, are they?

Thanking you kindly

they can't be trained at nighttime
it is a hormone that kicks in and wakes them up to go for a wee
just leave in nappies until you have 3 dry nappies ina row in the morning
ds was 5, my nephew is 5 and still in bedtime nappies
gps don't see it as an issue until they are 7 iirc

bigchris · 12/05/2009 11:03

sorry should say ds was 4 when he stopped having them

madwomanintheattic · 12/05/2009 11:05

can't train it.

'twill happen when it happens.

dd1 - 8 (with help from paed/enuresis alarm)
ds1 - still waiting (he's 7)
dd2 - 2

same from me, cannot be trained.
can start lifting at night, making them have a wee before bed etc, but cant be trained.

mine was 5, and still has occasional accident.

bought some sheets with palstic backing from ebay, 2, so that one could be slung into the wash when wet.

TOP TIP: put 2 or 3 on the bed over each other, when you get a wet one, strip it off and you dont tn hvet remak the bed, its alreadydone. tis crapola aat 4am when wet beddingneds channig.

dd2 getting there and she is four

VinegarTits · 12/05/2009 11:21

Ah ok, i never knew you couldnt train, i thought i did with ds1 but that was 18 years ago and my memory has faded, will just wait for the dry nappies to start happening, ta for advice

trinity

forgot to look for you yesterday
how are you doing with the declutter?

Astrophe · 12/05/2009 12:12

I'd say try bribery, just in case they are 'ready' but can't be bothered to get up.

DS started having a choc button in the moring if he was dry (and just a "oh, never mind!" if not - no punishment of course), and it has helped him a lot, as I think he was wetting in the moring before he got up.

We also lift him at about 9/10PM. He is 3, and wets about once a week, but other than that dry.

madwoman

I have two bags at the door wating to be taken

thats two been taken and two waiting

not too bad I guess

madwomanintheattic · 12/05/2009 14:11

you are a star

i got rid of two bags this morning too - when i got home from the school run i noticed a few of the neighbours had put charity bags out for collection, so legged it inside to maximise the opportunity. so chuffed that i didn't even have to drive to the shop lol. unfortunately they only wanted clothes, so i've got to go to get rid of the other random stuff lol.

i also made dh take a carload of toys to the almost godchildren lol. the parents had said they would take anything lol, so i didn't feel too guilty

i can get out of bed on my side now just!

lots and lots and lots to go, but easy does it!
