Why does my beautiful image conscious dd not want to have a shower?

She loves to look nice, loves choosing her clothes so much so she spends hours drawing and designing clothes. SHe loves to put togther an outfit and plan her hair, shoes etc.

But can I get her in a shower without a fuss. We have just had to say to her shower or bed for the day to get her in the bathroom.

mine cries when I say she has to have a bath LOL - she's 10

Our is 7. She got into bed with me just now and she was whiffy and had a filthy face. She pretended to have a wash and then put on a lovely outfit and was doing her hair - but she was dirty.

Perhaps she doesn't like showers? Does she make a fuss about a bath?

Is she ok with baths? And what age/height is she? DS hated showers when he was smaller, as even on the lowest setting it was still very "wet" IYSWIM

I just asked she hates baths as well.

She is trefusis.

Although a fashion diva she is a run about in the fields and climb a tree kind of girl so she gets very dirty very quick.

her best friend is always immaculate so god knows what her mother makes of our dd.

Yes we get the dying swan too. When we are not in a rush it is funny. Yes and once we get her in the bath she is also in there for ages.

I meant to type she is 7 trefusis, not she is trefusis I am not implying you are a grubby child.

What do you bribe him with reality?

IMe it does get better as they grow older. Dd at 12 no longer needs reminding to wash. No doubt her friends would remind her if she didn't

twinsetandpearls · 10/05/2009 09:51

Really? I do teach a few whiffy teenage girls who make it even worse by layering on cheap perfume and hairspray.

My boys are 10 and 11 and both still hate to wash. We got a new bathroom last month with a fab big new shower, and I thought that woudl tempt them, but it doesn't at all.

They are not 'image conscious' at all, especially not ds1. He just grabs the nearest heap of clothes and drags them on in about 30 seconds flat before walking out the door!

Dd earns money for her chores, maybe we could add having a shower to the list as she sees it as a chore.

my dd has to be told she stinks, LOL I tell her someone who doesnt love her like we do will get a whiff of her pits one day............
She only baths 2 to 3 times a week, she despises showers even more, and I nag her to put deodrant on every day - actually thinking about it it's more like 1 to 2 times LOL
(I even resorted to buying dry shampoo!)
