Which reuasables to try?

I would lke to try reusable on my son who is 10 months and would like some recommendations. I would like an AIO as its a struggle to get a disposable on the little wriggle worm so I'd never pin him down long enough to get a nappy and a wrap on. It must also be velcro rather than poppers for the same reason. Also I want a nappy that is as snug as possible as I don't like the puffball look. Am currently using M'ease with my toddler and I cannot stand the sight of them.
I was planning to order a couple of Bumgenius one size and Tots Bots AIO's. Are these any good and what else is there that fits my fussy needs ?
Thanks
ellie

Bumgenius onesize pockets are really good, user friendly and slim fitting - i use them on my toddler (although wwere in pt hell at mo) - i also really like the tots bots pocket tot and greenkids minkytimes for the fluffynes. Bumgenius would come highly recommended by me as would the other two (and not just because i sekk them honestly).

They just go on like s posie and are an easy option imho.

Bumgenius one size are good imo, but they are pockets rather than aio. Not that it makes a lot of difference. You could try the BumGenius sized aios, I liked these but have pretty much gone to pockets now for convenience. I have a couple of gorgeous magic-all aios, but they have poppers.

I didn't get with the totsbots aios, but a lot of people do. They were a bit too wide of leg for my chicken-thighed daughter.

Not sure I agree that the sized BumGenius is a pocket? It doesn't have to be stuffed and is self contained, so I would classify it as an aio. Agree that the one size is a pocket though...

In any case, I'm in love with my BBH Minkies so will be selling my BGs!!!

Another vote for Bumgenius, never had a leak with them yet.

afterglow · 10/05/2009 12:56

sorry, one-size bg are pockets, and their sized ones are aios. I think. Albeit aios with an extra pocket at the back. But both go on really easy and are very trim.

ilovemydog&mrobama, I love my bbh minkies too, but am paralysed with indecision about whether to buy more in medium or large (they sent me two medium instead of a medium and large). Obviously I have already chosen the next colours :O

ilovemydogandMrObama · 10/05/2009 13:13

afterglow sorry to add to your indecision, but BBH Minkies are a brilliant night nappy! DS fell asleep in his, so I didn't want to wake him up, so he went 14 hours in it and no wetness or leaks.

Oh, and they have run out of black, so if you want one, order soon or let them know...

afterglow · 10/05/2009 14:21

ooh. You may have just made me decide. I like the dew, pure blue and latte colours. If it wasn't nearly summer I would also want the hot chocolate. Maybe I can reinstate a breast-feed to push her over 22lbs...

14hrs is brilliant, especially as you presumably haven't prewashed the bamboo booster ten times yet.

Sorry for the hi-jack, Ellie-4.

Ellie4 · 10/05/2009 21:11

What does BBH stand for so I can google it to check them out. Don't mind if bumgenius one size is a pocket so long as I can get it on him quick.
Thanks

Baby Beehind

afterglow have dew and have ordered marine green. The colors are best represented on the BBH au web site...

Bumgenius are fantastic, easy and will hopefully fit for as long as DD needs nappies. I love 'em!!

GothAnneGeddes · 12/05/2009 01:08

Can I just bump this as I'm totally baffled about what nappies to pick. I've been looking at all the websites and I've applied to use the nappy library, but I thought Mumnetters would have some good advice.

Dd is a big chunky baby (15 wks old, weighs 7.4kg) who wees a lot.

I really don't fancy anything too fiddly or expensive and it needs to be fairly quick drying.

Thanks!

BlueChampagne · 13/05/2009 14:24

First of all, see if your local council does a real nappy offer. Ours did when I had DS and we got a variety pack, which was great as I was as baffled as you ladies. Hey, there may even be something out there that would suit me even better, but I'm happy with what I've got.

Secondly, try Freecycle. Again you have a good chance of getting a random selection, and even if you don't get on with some of them, you a) haven't spent any money on them, and b) can Freecycle them again for someone else to have a go.

Fleece liners are great once they're weaning and very easy to make yourself. They keep the skin clear of the worst of the wetness.

GothAnne - you might get more responses if you start another thread?
I have tried a few different nappies as I also have a chunky baby! . I find Motherease Sandies a very good fit. Bumgenius are OK but the fit is not as good.
Planning to try bamboo nappies now as they will be more absorbent. hth
