Anyone used cloth training pants? What do you recommend, and how many?

I'd like to buy some good, absorbent training pants - basically something that's as absorbent as a nappy. I've found some Kushies pants which are a good price; has anyone tried these or can you recommend any others?

The look is important, too - I want something that looks more grown-up to help with DS distinguishing them as different from nappies.

Also how many should I buy?

I have been using Pocket Bots trainer pants which you can stuff with whatever you have to hand; you can reduce the stuffing as they get more reliable with potty/toilet usage. They are really good, I bought 6 pairs as DS1 has been a real nightmare with lots of accidents.

I like the look of those, Washer. The idea of being in control of the absorbency is a great one, actually - plus tbh I've tried Kushies waterproof wraps and they don't last long.

Thanks for the tip - much more expensive but probably a good investment/ saving in the long run.

Just reading through the info - what's 'wicking'?

I am claiming back £30 from the council incentive scheme so works out quite cheap really. I will be using them for DS2 aswell.

DS1 did think they looked a bit too much like nappies, but then he is nearly 4yo now! They have at least served the purpose to make him want to keep his pants dry so that he can have his 'big boys pants' back.

I think DS2 will accept them as pants when the time comes to potty train him.

Wicking is where the moisture seeps through the fabric when pressure is applied (usually when sitting down for long periods). I haven't had a problem with it - the major leaks we have had are from DS1 not putting his willy away properly

My DS occasionally pulls his willy out of his nappy altogether - I open it up to change him and find it poking out to greet me! Thankfully so far we've not had accidents.

Great tip re council, I've been rubbish and never claimed back yet. That makes a huge difference to the spend.

Cheers!
