I'm a healthcare student, I'm training at three hospitals which are all connected together. I'm having a stretch at Uni before I go back on placement but I don't know if I can put up with the bullying that is going on towards some of the students from the staff.
I have had complaints made about me that are unfounded from a member of staff to the course leader, saying that I argue with patients, do unnecessary repeats of procedures without asking the staff first and have been making up my own techniques rather then follow guidelines. I am really annoyed as none of this is true. I do feel really awkward going back, I have tried to talk to the Uni, their response is to continue doing what I am, things will get better next year. I think it's only 2 members of staff out of 25ish but I see this as bullying. I have had one of them say to me before that something I did was 'OK considering', these two are regularly down my throat and I can't work in an environment like this. I have time to make up from being ill so I have to go back for a couple of weeks next month but I don't think I can face it, I can't move anywhere else as I don't have transport but if they contact the Uni again and indicate that I am unsafe then I could get sent to a suitability pannel and could loose my place on the course.
I really don't know what to do. Thanks for any help.

I second FLRAL - write everything down. Your university should have harassment advisors who are not connected to your appartment that you can go and see. Is there an independent advice centre? I used to work in an advice centre connected to a students' union which was especially useful for people in your position where the department isn't being helpful. If you truly feel you're not at fault (which it sounds like you're not) then you need to get a paper trail going just in case these complaints come back on you later.

It may also be worth keeping your own log of the procedures you do, who you checked with, what they said, what the patient said etc. Get the person in charge to sign it off after each shift if you can.

Sorry to hear that you're ill. Have you put in mitigating circumstances for this academic year? You should be able to do this on the strength of waiting for a diagnosis.

Have you tried talking to your student union at all? You should have a sabbatical officer with responsibility for student welfare who can put you in touch with all the relevant people. Your department sound worse than useless to be honest and you may find your SU better.

Good luck!
