DD (16 weeks) will only poo when sitting in a certain chair...odd?

A general musing really, as well as an 'is this in any way normal' post...

DD, now nearly 16 weeks seems to only poo when she is sitting in her recliner chair in the living room. I thought I was imagining it, but having not (deliberately) put her in this chair since Saturday, she did not poo until just now when I put her in the chair to see what would happen!

When she was tiny she used to poo after every feed, but as her gut has matured she's typically been a once every day and a half type of girl, but always when she's in this particular chair.

It's not a problem for now, and I had thought it was just coincidence (until today's experiment). But what happens if we go on holiday?!!

Has anyone ever experienced anything similar or do I have an extremely odd baby?

um, my mum reckons that my big bro used to poo at precisely the same time every day. Eventually she twigged that she could use this to her advantage and started holding him on the potty at 4 months. By 12 months he was a pooey-nappy free zone.

getting the hang of the wee thing took him a LOT longer however!!!!

Brilliant, let's hope for early potty training then! It really is most strange...

If you felt like taking it further you could search this section for threads on EC/Elimination Communication. Or google it.

Its not exactly potty training, but is about noticing things like you've noticed and offering your DD chances to wee or poo somewhere appropriate.

If you know she's going in the chair you could make a cue sound when she goes. Then after a few goes of that you could try holding her over a bowl/potty/toilet and making the cue sound for her to tell her its ok to go there. You don't have to be totally nappy free to try it, you can just offer at certain times like after feeds/naps, or at nappy changes.

If you leave it she'll probably grow out of it and stop needing the chair to go anyway so I'm sure she'd cope with a holiday or similar.

DS1 went through a little phase between about 4 and 8 months of usually pooing in his car seat and high chair! We wen on holiday etc and he was fine
