Does anyone else's toddler refuse to have nap at home but does in nursery?

DS is two.
Up until about six weeks ago, he always had a nap after lunch in nursery and the same when he was with me at home.
Now he refuses to go to bed in the afternoon; I have to take him out in the car to get him to sleep and then he can sleep sometimes for over an hour!
I wouldnt care if he didn't NEED the sleep, but I know he does because he sleeps in nursery, in the car, and, sometimes, when I take him out in the buggy.
Anyone similiar experience? What did you do?

Sort of. DD (15 mths) refuses to sleep at home other than in bed cuddled up with me or in the car. Yet at nursery she sleeps on her own on a little mattress and a blanket. How??? Why TF can they get her to do that and I can't???

Yes, dd is the same. She has a "lovely sleep" at nursery, and I have to drive her round in the car. Yesterday was the first time I couldn't actually get her to sleep in the car. The same thing happened with the buggy, as soon as she realises what I am trying to do, she fights me. I drove round for 45 minutes yesterday, and one minute she'd be like a nodding dog, the next rabbiting away about something or other. Very frustrating. Cue a horrendous night's sleep because she's so overtired, and a very tired mummy and dd today.

Although she's in nursery, so no doubt she'll have a "lovely sleep".

I wonder this all the time too.
I think it's the very strict routine at nursery and being surrounded by other little ones sleeping too.

Not a big problem, but as I work 3 days, it would be noce for him to sleep at home so I can do some much needed chores!
As it is, I get a coffee at McDonald's drive-in, park up and read my book. And the chores remain untouched

Gateau that sounds like a great idea. Pull in for a Big Mac coffee and a read while she sleeps

Last spring my 2 yr old would sleep for childminder and not at home,I worked out that at CM he was kept VERY active all morning and all her charges had a lie down after lunch, so he fell asleep. At home he was not so busy and not so tired by lunchtime.

They do change tho, this spring hes been at ful day care nursery- and not sleping- only child in his room who would not sleep, BUT on teh days hes at home he does sleep! go figure, maybe he doesn;t like sleeping in a room with other people.

For the last month I've been leaving him to sleep in in the morning any day he doesn;t have to be up and out, then I get a chunk of work done before he wakes up. YMMV not many kids of 3 will sleep till 10am, but this one does.
