I seem to write one of these every few months!

We have done books, scribbling, going down the hall in her scuttlebug and going to the shops in wellies.. Shes had lunch, done her nap, what next? How on earth do they entertain them all day at nursery?

Make your own playdough - lots of threads have the recipe.

cbeebies/dvd is very good on rainy days.

pull all the toys out of the toy box and put them back.

Help with washing up.

My dd2 loved having extra baths in the afternoon.

DS loves:

Looking through the Argos/Tesco Direct catalogue
Looking through Top Gear magazine
Sticking bits of paper to other bits of paper
Aquadraw
Playdoh
Playing with magnetic letters
Playing football (with a soft ball I might add!)

Big basin of water on the kitchen floor - sitting on an old towel - jugs, cups, spoons, etc.

At nursery they play with funny textures, like cubes of jelly, shaving foam, etc.

Give her a cloth and get her to wipe kitchen cupboards.

Pull all sofa cushions on to the floor and make mountains or caves.

Thanks guys, I find my at home days really hard work when it rains, I love her to bits but we both get a bit bored.
Where can i get aquadraw? Is it expensive?

Would definately second an aqua draw both my DCs (3 & 1) love it..

Is worth its weight in gold...

Think argos sell it, but you might get it cheaper on e bay...

making music with pots and pans and small wooden spoon and cheap rattles (or make your own with old containers filled with rice or pasta shapes)

blowing and catching bubbles kept my little one amused for ages

lining up plastic bottles and running/crawling into them to knock them over. Then stand them all up tomgether and start again

Local library, childrens bit! They often have toys in there or at least shelves of books they can run around!

swimming

Give her a section of a kitchen cupboard which is "all hers" ie. one low down with plastic plates, cups, interesting unbreakable things in it.
Keeps mine amused for hours- she tries to climb right in it.

I must admit I do try to leave the house and stay out all day- play groups, the park (yes, in the rain) or just dragging her round things I want to do anyway, like friends' houses for coffee. We both go a bit stir crazy if cooped up at home.

I am going to take up some of habbibu's suggestions too.

Watching this with intrest as dd is 17 months and I'm having the same problem. She cant get the hang of wellies yet so splashing around in puddles isnt an option which most rainy days are spent mainly indoors ATM.
