Please can someone talk to me about paper liners now we're creeping up the Bristol stool scale?

Evening ladies

V proud moments here in the von Cheese household as DD's poos move inexorably from a 7 to a 6 or 5 (Bristol stool chart - never let it be said that my posts aren't educational (best not looked at while eating)) ...

We have an enormous stash of paper liners but no real idea what to do with them. Do I just stick them in every nappy from now on? Nappies we use are as follows: Bumgenius, P'tit Dessous Mini-Maxi, Minky pockets, Lollipop pockets, Lollipop microfleece, Eco Bumbles, occasionally a Fluffle, think that's it ...

TIA

no idea, have never used them, not looked at the scale but presume this means they're getting more solid>??

just use fleece and tip solids out into the loo

wastingmyeducation · 23/04/2009 21:10

I don't put one in the Bumbles we use over night, but I put one in every day nappy which are folded terry squares.

Not much help, but wanted to say thank you for the chart.

DitaVonCheese · 23/04/2009 21:24

Sorry yes, more solid. Though really only one solid-ish one so far and it happened mid-change so hard to tell what would have happened if it hadn't been smeared everywhere by furiously wriggling baby (DH was reading in the bath and claimed not to hear my shrieks ).

wasting Glad you like it It is fondly regarded by my family (dad had a professional interest).

Depends whether your drains can take it. I don't use liners as am happy to shake & flush but would recommend new nappy users to use liners esp if they don;t like poo! The type of nappy makes little difference imho!

BLW folks call this stage "peanut butter poo." (It makes it hard to look at peanut butter the same way again.) The peanut butter poo (when the body first starts digesting the solids) is ungodly sticky and very hard to get out of things. It also smells bad, so anything that gets it into the loo quicker is a good idea.

DitaVonCheese · 24/04/2009 12:28

Sticky and stinky sounds about right! Will try fleece, paper and nowt and see which does best. Ta

there are new liners coming onto the market soon which actually do disintegrate in the flushing process.

wastingmyeducation · 24/04/2009 17:46

Ooh! Where have you heard about those Octo?

Octothechildherder · 25/04/2009 09:39

One nappy company and one wipe company are developing them - they will be out soon!

rusmum · 25/04/2009 21:57

i use fleece and paper- but only put paper in if i think a poooh is likely (she is quite regular). Have an empty marg tub i put paper liner and wipes (i only use disposable wipes for pooohs) in then take up and flush!!!!

If she poohs unexpectedly in fleece i scoop out with wipe and flush

I thought you had to use a liner of some sort to somehow take the wee away from the bum? I always use paper liners, I put wee wee ones into wash and reuse (they're s'posed to be flushable but block my drain) and since a recent thread on here I've been flicking the poo and binning the pooey liner - used to bin the poo and liner in a nappy bag.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 25/04/2009 22:04

Wow - thanks for the stool scale....

wastingmyeducation · 26/04/2009 11:07

plimple - I only started using liners when DS poo went up the scale after we'd started weaning. Before that it was liquid. Wee doesn't hurt them.

paisleyleaf · 26/04/2009 11:14

I thought the same as pimple
the paper liners I used for DD kept the wee off her bum.

I'd shake poo down the loo and bin the liner (we got a cess pool), and reuse/deal with wee ones the other end of the wash.
