Hi my dd is about to turn 8 and she really wants to see 17 again, but it is a 12a.
Is it suitable? would you let your 8 year old go?
I was planning to take her today after school, but now i am not too sure!

I was wondering the same. My almost 8yo wants to see it as does my almost 11yo.

I overheard a lady in the hairdressers say she had taken her 7yo to see it in the easter holidays and said "it was quite good".

No mention of anything too unsuitable, but then I was eavesdropping on her loud convo and not actually discussing it with her

I suppose being a 12a, you may expect soem kind of sexual reference in there, but depending on how it is, it can go straight over their heads!

Am interested to know from someone who has been before I take my girls.

If you go to IMDB website they have a Parent's Guide for all films that may help you decide.

Personally, I think it looks too old for an 8 year old.

I think you may see some grown women lusting after a 17 year old's body. My 8 yo wants to see it- I would rather she didn't but am pretty sure as soon as it is on dvd someone will have it for a sleepover.

My almost 12 year old went to see it with her friends. I asked her if it was suitable for her 9 year old sister and she said yes.
And she is normally fairly accurate on this!

I wouldn't. But I am very strict about film classifications. Take her to see Monsters V Aliens or the Witch Mountain thing. She's only 7 - she's got years to see 12 films.

But a 12A is not the same as a 12, Seeker. It just means under-12s have to be accompanied by an adult.
Not that I am contemplating taking DD2 to see it.

Well - I took her in the end - i found a mum at school who had taken her 11 year old to see it and she said she thought it would be fine! I am normally strict about films too Seeker, and Monster vs Aliens is next weeks film with her brother, this was a special treat as she really wanted to see it (aalhtough we managed to stay away from all High School Musical thank God!).
I would say it is fine for an 8 year old, i think there was some very minor swearing (you would hear worse in the street), and a sex education lesson where they passed around condoms - i think that was the worst of it.
And i was expecting to be bored rigid, but i really enjoyed it - as did dd!
