Frequent weeing - is she not ready yet?

Dd is 2.4 and we started potty training this afternoon (she was at nursery this morning so we put her in pants for this first time after her lunchtime nap).

In the 3 hours she had pants on for (until bath time) she did no fewer than 7 wees of which 6 were in her pants and 1 on the potty (she had been sitting on it for about 15 mins while we played a water pouring game). Most of those times she was asked to sit on the potty and refused then weed moments later.

Is the frequent weeing a sign that she doesn't have the necessary bladder capacity/control for training yet? She had had quite a lot to drink during the afternoon but we had a series of wees at 15 min intervals. I will give it a few days before considering abandoning the attempt but am a bit apprehensive of what a whiole day is going to be like if she wees that frequently - will need another trip to tesco for more pants I think!

anyone? blooming heck this is hard work... 10 wees in 3 hours so far this morning of which one and a half were in the potty (i put her on the potty as soon as she got up which was the only one we have managed in full). Have sent out for more pants and got yesterdays out on the line in the sun to dry... after 2 hours she took off her pants and asked for a nappy and I am very tempted

That does sound like a lot of wees! You might need to give it a couple of days to see if the number reduces when she hasn't had so much to drink. Is there a reason why you decided to start training yesterday or did you just want to give it a go?

we are trying as there was a window of opportunity with good weather and my mother around to help for two days. going back to work at start of june so unlikely to have another chance for a while. she sits on the potty every nappy change at nursery (although rarely does anything) and they said they thought she was ready...

Dd wee'd very frequently at first BUT she wanted to sit on the potty for them so it's more that she's doing them in her pants that would make me think she's not quite ready iyswim.

I seem to remember my DD did a lot of wees at first but she pretty soon held on longer. Both my DD and DS weed in their pants a lot to start with - had no idea when it was coming - but just when you think they'll never get it, they suddenly clicked. They were a bit older though - DD was 2.6 and DS 2.9.

I would give it a little bit longer to see if the wees reduce in frequency, if not - go back to nappies! She's got plenty of time!

have just had the first full wee on the potty when she got herself there rather than me putting her on it weeing about every 30 mins at the mo

I wouldn't worry about it yet. DS1 was terrible for weeing all the time when he started. DS2 wasn't so bad.

I think they are just practising. They are getting a feel for whether or not they have control.

I would give it a week. If there are more on the floor than in the potty after that then she might not be ready. If they are ready, once they get the process and understand the feeling it should be pretty much done and dusted in a week. If they aren't ready it can be very dragged out.

That is how it worked for my boys although they were quite late to train but then they are boys!
