that when you have to leave the house for groups and things for older DC's and potty training little one has to have pants/trousers on they forget that they need to pull them down to sit on the potty. DOH. Getting there but slowly.

bare bum didn't work for DS1 - he loved watching himself wee (leaving puddles). Having big boy pants on was much better - he didn't like having wet pants on and stopped weeing everywhere.

when I tried toilet training ds2 recently he just enjoyed splashing in the resulting puddle...have postponed it now till a later date when hopefully he'll be a bit more co-operative...

I never went for that approach with DS - he would have been confined to the kitchen for 10 days because we had carpets everywhere else. I was chicken and used pull-ups whenever we went out.

I am about to start the process with DD. Wish me luck [help] [panic].

stelthsquiggle - In my experience with girls (nannying and my DD) all the ones I have potty trained have been far easier. We have carpets everywhere except the kitchen too, I was very glad we had a fair amount of dry weather in those 10 days. Off to a good start today, pants down, in potty and everything. He is now sat on sofa with big sister reading to him so will forget about the whole thing any minute. lol.

'easy' is not an adjective that could ever be applied to my DD. This morning before 8am we had "discussions" about

  • eating toast
  • letting Mummy button your dress
  • whether you really need to wear trousers with a dress
  • putting on socks and shoes
  • whether it was appropriate to unpack your lunch bag in the car

I am hoping nursery will do most of the work help

Oh and our tumble drier has died, so fingers are definitely crossed for good weather!
