When did you stop using the baby monitor?

DD is 11 months and last night I had a fantastic sleep because I accidently had the monitor on mute!

However, we're in the next room and I can hear her crying from there without the monitor, it's just a lot louder with it obviously. I'm pretty sure I would wake up though.

When did people stop using theirs?

I still use mines at 1.5yrs and will continue for quite a while. Baby will go in that room soon and I want to wake as soon as they do to avoid waking the older child.

If your child is reliably sleeping until morning no wakes, not teething and in good health I don't see why you need it.

I still use ours at nearly 2 years, but the children sleep on a different floor to us, DD has just changed to sleeping in a toddler bed and while she can get up by herself, get out of the room and safely up and down the stairs she'd easily be squashed between her door and the baby gate in her doorway, so that one stays open at night time. She's a curious little thing and I'd hate for her to go exploring the kitchen/ downstairs cupboards by herself if I didn't hear her wake up.

Do you think I'm being a little OTT with it? He does sleep through, isn't teething atm and in good health but I'm always one of them who says you never know what can happen... but I also know I can't live like that all the time! 🙈 I think I'm probably more annoyed at my partner for unplugging the thing and ignoring him when he wakes up although again I know it's ok to let them entertain themselves for a little. Just never know if I'm being too protective and worrying over nothing causing arguments over silly things that other people don't seem a big deal x

@247tired your not ott. Even if I wasn't having another baby I'd continue using the monitor for a while yet. I will probably use my monitor until baby is about 3, maybe longer if they don't stay in bed at night but will play it by ear.

You partner doesn't sound very nice unplugging it and then ignoring him. I think that's the issue not the fact you use a baby monitor.

I used them with my first from a previous until she was old enough to talk to me clearly and she could shout me rather than crying in the mornings so I'm going to carry on using them.

And I think you're right! I understand he's tired but Jesus aren't we all... It just starts the day off on a bad note as soon as he unplugs that monitor because I can't relax at all and I'm up straight away or i have to argue for him to get up but by that point in already wide awake then so pointless! Sorry for ranting and thanks for reading x
