Ok i'm snooping on ebay cos am thinking of getting reusable nappies for DS2, which ones do i get?
I would like waterproof ones with inserts.. i ENT folding terry nappies cos i'm flippin useless and IMO may as well wrap him in a teatowel and i'd use half a dozen pins and pick him up and watch it slip off....

The ones i have seen so far :

Coolababy
Motherease..which are terry ones so would i need a waterproof outside cover or what?

And, fuzzi bunz which i like the look of.

??? Help!

Thanks x

Well, there are all in ones (AOIs), pockets and two-parters. Here's some info.

Imainly use two-parters but I think you mean you would like pockets (which is what fuzzi bunz are). A lot of people love Bumgenius pockets, I'm certainly impressed with the ones I have.

Stercus, I tried some friend's fuzzi bunz and didn't get on with them at all. Loads of leaks. I guess I wasn't stuffin them right. We use tots bots with a motherease wrap and they are brilliant.

You could look here orhere

I have itti bitti d'lish, fluffles and wonderoos. DS2 has occasional poop leaks from the ittis but they are really cute and slim fitting, the fluffles are fab unbelievably fast drying but bulky under clothes and the wonderoos are great too (but apparently can be leaky on smaller babies).

Some local councils give vouchers towards the cost of washables, 'tis well worth checking out.

Fuzzis depend on the shape of your baby. Great for mine, terrible on my friend's.

Bumgenius are a good fit.

If you want to spend pennies and help out mumsnet wahms at the same time, then nappyzone, snugglebumnappies and bumfluff nappies (NOT just bumfluff ) are all regular MNer sites.

Ooh ignore my angry face - she has changed names by the looks of things

Stercus, we have used totsbots flexitots with tots wraps for our DD. They have worked great and dry quite quickly. Drying time is an issue if you don't have a tumble dryer (or any sunshine!). Now she is bigger we are trying out some different nappies. I love the ittibittis as they are so cute and slim fitting but they are expensive. The outer drys very quick but the inners seem to take ages. We also have some nappies from a mum who runs a local business - www.nappymakers.com. They are bamboo so lovely and soft and they fold out completely flat to dry. You need a seperate wrap with these and a nappy nippa. If you are on a budget then second hand nappies are a good option or look out for sales on the nappy websites.... Good luck finding some that suit you.

Thanks for all your replies, am now looking at the bumgenius ones they seem ok

My council does the vouchers, bout time i got some money back off them lol..

And...DS2 leaks poo out of EVERY nappy, huggies and pampers so that'll be no different, i am just looking into being more cheapskate cost effective and eco friendly... don't want greenpeace camping out on my lawn lol

Thank you all very much

ooh - I should have mentioned something. I found converting to cloth really surprising. Although I have said DS2 has occasional poop leaks with itti's - this is far far less frequent than the amount of leakage he had with every variety of disposables!

StercusAccidit · 16/04/2009 21:00

Thanks
Is something i always wanted to do but the initial outlay fazed me a bit, and the thought of washing/drying them, i guess when you think about it its not that hard, or expensive when you consider 1-2 packs of disposables a week...
DP would never have let me spend the money i needed to in one go, he would if it was a car part, lol, so now i'm going to spend my money how i like and this is going to be the first of many times

I have used and like Tots, Motherease and Thirsties.
What I'd recommend is that you buy a variety of second hand cloth nappies (you can find lots on the For sale boards here) and then try them out before you buy a whole load of one type.
That way you can be sure they fit your child and are easy for you to wash/dry etc as they do all vary quite a bit.
