How often do you change nappies?

I'm a bit curious about any differences in usage of cloth and disposable nappies (to see if my husband's thoughts on the matter are valid). Of course, this could be affected by the age (stage) and gender of your child.

So, in the absence of poo triggering an immediate change, how often do you change your child's nappies?
And to see what this affected by:
Do you use reals or disposables, or if both how differently do you treat them?
Do you have a boy or girl?
Are they breast or formula fed, weaning or eating family food?
Do they have sensitive skin, triggering earlier changes than you might otherwise do?

Thank you, ladies.

DD is 16 weeks and breastfed. She's in cloth nappies which are changed after every feed during the day (approx 3-4hrly) and overnight she has a cloth nappy which lasts her 14 hours overnight.

@nappyaddict - on a 3 nappy day with no poos? Every six hours (eightish, twoish, eightish). Otherwise more like every four hours. He was one of those BF babies who only pooed about once a week - happy days!

@aendr - is it totsbots you use? I use a mix of those and bamboo terries, though there are now some second-hand MEOS and Sandys in the mix - they were 50p each from a local mum - bargain! - well used but still working fine. She also gave me some boosters, which I've started using at night. My DP is also a cloth nappy sceptic - but I think we've managed to come to a compromise involving me washing them and conceding to dispos.

With impeccable timing, DS has just crawled past and I'm struck by that mac-and-cheese smell. Gads teething poo is rank

puddock: I've got 10 flexitots and 10 bamboozles - 9 of which have the popper insert and 1 of which is sewn in.

every 3hrs. my mum has a thing about nappy rash and is always checking how often he gets changed in case i leave him too long. i know disposable will last all night and then some but always feel guilty, even though they're the eco ones. he'd quite happily sit in a soggy dirty nappy for hours though.

ds is two next month, in cloth nappies I tend to change every 2-3 hours, depending how wet, as his wee seriously reeks, you can smell it through his clothes. If in disposables I'll leave them on for 3-4 hours maybe if not pooed.

Minimum chenges are

I change on get up 630 ish- after nap 11 ish

mid aft 2 ish tea time 4 ish and bed time 7ish . So 5, if no obvious need otherwise but usually one more time for a randomly timed pooh!! - also have 30 mins nappy free on 1st and last change. I am a cloth user!

puddock so you mean on days where he doesn't pooh you change every 6 hours if he is just wet. but when he poohs it usually makes it about every 4 hours?
