How many people do YOU know who use reusable nappies?

Apart from ourselves I know of 3 other people in person who use reusable nappies at least some of the time. Was just interested as I wonder if they are becoming more popular, there seems to be loads of people on the net who use them. I know of a few others who intended using them but then didn't for whatever reason. Hopefully the amount of people now using them is making a difference to the amount of nappies that go to landfill.

I used them for DS and DD1. I used terry nappies with safety pins and plastic pants.
I never boilwashed the nappies, just used the garden hose to wash off solid waste then washed in the whites wash at 60 degrees - and my nappies never stank. And I was always able to dry them on the clothesline. I used them until the dcs were 18 months

But there was a 4-year gap when I had DD2, and I just couldn't be bothered going back to using them!

I use them and at least 10 other people I know use them too. I lost count, tbh.

Other people have said to me: "It must be so much work," but it's the washing machine doing the work.

And: "They're so expensive," which isn't even true of the initial purchase, as you can buy them secondhand.

My DS has eczema which can cause horrible nappy rash and I've found using a barrier cream and a fleece liner in cloth protects his skin far better than a disposable.

Quite apart from the whole environment question I've just found cloth does the job better.

I do keep a pack of Moltex to hand in case of emergencies but he usually grows out of them before the pack is used.
