I know that you are not supposed to give calpol to babies but I remember being told that after immunisations that they can have it so does anyone have any experience of giving a 4 week old calpol? Is it ok and if so how much do you give. LO seems very hot (dont have themometre) and wanted something to bring temp down. Help please!

TBH, if my 4 week old was hot I'd be straight to the GP.

I don't think you are supposed to give calpol under 12 weeks, you can give 1/2 a dose after 8 week imms, if needed, but only then.

I would invest in a thermometer and try to cool LO down with cold flanels (sp?) If you are really worried, or LO shows any other signs of illness (Off food, limp and lifeless, rash etc) take LO to GP straight away.

noneeeeeeeee , ya baby needs to be 8-12 weeks old before you give him/her calpol. Get him/her to a doctor or a+e if your worried

Just thinking, as it's BH weekend, I;d take LO to GP today, otherwise you won't see one til Tuesday, otherwise it will be a trip to out of hours.

Agree - don't give a baby that small calpol for goodness sake - take him to the GP/A&E

None, 8 weeks minimum age unless GP prescribed IIRC.

Get down your GP surgery

Hope LO is OK.

Babies that small can have Calpol but it should be done under the supervision of a doctor. IMHO babies that age with a fever need to be seen by a GP.

To GP before calpol at 4 weeks. Especially before a BH weekend. Don't worry they're used to it. Hope all is well.

Don't just give Calpol, you will be treating the symptom ie the fever not the cause, and in a baby that young a fever needs investigating.

You need to see your GP - in the meantime remove clothing (just down to a vest) and DON'T use cold flannels as it induces shivering which increases the temperature. Just keep offering fluids (breastmilk or formula) and make a note of whether the baby is weeing, pooing etc.
