Monster V Aliens for 4 yo?

DH wants to take DS to see this. It's a PG so I'm not sure. He's not easily scared by things (has been known to watch Dr Who without incident). Has anyone seen it? Would it be OK?

We were also doubtful about it even though ds1 (5.6) has been asking to see it since seeing the adverts. We've now read the storybook to the movie quite a few times and ds is familiar with the story, who the bad guys are and where the scary bits are and what happens at the end - so we feel much happier about taking him. Will probably see it over Easter.

Just make sure you don't end up at the screening Predator V Alien.

Yes, DS who is nearly 4 loved it (and so did I). There are "scary" things, eg helicopter gunships, explosions, a giant robot, bridge collapsing, giant insect, tentacly alien etc but it's all done in a very funny and cartoony way, and all the monsters are good guys. DS was not scared at all.

Yes. No problem. We saw it on Sunday. Was very funny. Not frightening - DS#2 is a bit of a wuss who often climbs on my knee and hides his face in my neck, but he was fine with this.

Rumpel · 08/04/2009 21:27

DD 2.5 loved it. first time she has been at the pics.

Seona1973 · 08/04/2009 22:35

ds 2.5years also liked it along with his big sister who is 5.5years.

Feenie · 08/04/2009 22:36

3 year old ds went to the cinema for the first time to see this and loved it. He's quite sensitive, but wasn't scared at all.

Lilyloo · 08/04/2009 22:38

Fine took dd 4 and ds 7 for his birthday no probs with dd not really scary!! (she thinks brother bear scary)

screamingabdab · 08/04/2009 22:49

Took Dss today (age 5 and 8). I don't think it is nearly as likely to scare a 4 year old as some U films we've seen!

I saw it in 3D which was great

PortAndLemon · 08/04/2009 23:29

I haven't seen it, but DH took DS (just 4) who loved it and declared it his new favourite film.

thehouseofmirth · 08/04/2009 23:40

Oh that's fab, thank you. DH is going to take DS this weekend so I can enjoy some uninterrupted cuddle time with his new baby brother.

saw it in 3d, i ducked every time a bit of concrete, meteorite or shrapnel headed towards me. 6 year old was ok, probably because the 3d glasses were way too big, think it was more like 2 and a half d for her. good fun, but plot/script not as sharp as other films in this genre

applepudding · 10/04/2009 22:38

Saw this today. I thought it was crap but DS 7 loved it!

Would think it was fine for 4 year old, but a bit concerned that there were two children at the screening I saw, in different families, both of whom were no more than two, and both of whom cried most of the way through it.

Tortoise · 10/04/2009 22:42

I personally didn't really enjoy it and DD2 age 4.8 fell asleep about half hour from the end. My other 3 seemed to enjoy it. We watched in 3D too.

randomrabbit · 10/04/2009 22:44

I thought it was a bit crap...dgs[6] liked it dgs[4] got a bit bored by the end tho

hifi · 10/04/2009 22:54

dd 4.10 loved it, so did i.she did jump quite a few times though.

onebatmother · 10/04/2009 23:10

I loved it. DD 3.5 slightly scared though - in an enjoyable way, I think, but definitely needed turning away from screen. She's pretty ebullient on the whole.
