French children's DVDs-suggestions please!

My boys are bilingual and will soon start to learn a bit of French as a third language at nursery school. They're really interested in languages at the moment so I'd like to supplement with some kids DVDs at home in French. We have Maya the Bee but those French insects talk so much and so fast that it's impossible to understand most of it...

So any ideas for slightly slower, gentler cartoons/films/programmes in French for kids would be much appreciated!

PS- DSs are well into things like Button Moon and Bagpuss so don't feel shy about suggesting any 1970s throwbacks you might still have a fondness for...

Bali is really cute - our dds love it (we have a 3 dvd box set from Amazon)

Leo et Popi
Bumba
Barbapapa
Petit Ours Brun

The first two are educational in intent (though for natives, not learners - it's all authentic!) so the language is quite structured - the other two are quite "gentle" and have a narrator so the language is quite slow and clear.

Do google them first as they may not be age-appropriate (PS re Bumba - it's Belgian and on YouTube you can only find the Flemish version but the French is identical - just use what you see to guage if it would appeal to your sons.)

Hi there - a very belated thanks for these suggestions! My kids loved Bumba when we looked on YouTube but I can't find the DVD in French anywhere. Any ideas?

You can order it from a company called mediadis or direct from www.studio100.be

Be warned - it is highly addictive and makes you accept the unacceptable. Before the fortnight is out you will be thinking, "of course - a police car appearing from under a snail's shell - what could be more natural?"

The DVDs are bilingual and the initial menu invites you to select "nederlands" or "francais" - don't waste time looking for a specifically French edition.

Nounours! I think that's what it's called - its a puppet show with 2 kids getting ready for bed, Mr Sandman - or the marchand de sable then drops Nounours down into their room - and it always ends with Bon-ne nuit les enfants!

My husband grew up on this in the 1970's. Ds loved it when he was 2-3.
