my baby is due in july, and i have a 2 year old in BG (onesize) V3

do they fit a newborn well or not has anyone used them?
my baby will prob be around 7lb same as my last two, and i have some tiny mothercare inserts i can use in it so it wouldnt be bulky, but what is the fit like?

anyone used them before?

cheers guys

I have a friend who is using them on newborn without any problems - he's 8lb

Pollyanna · 02/04/2009 14:18

I used them on my newborn, but he was 10lb. didn't need to use an insert. They were fab!

TheNatty · 02/04/2009 14:51

do you mean an all in one type pollyanna?
i have the pocket type BG, so if there was no insert it would just be a wrap, surely you didnt use them like that?

Hello the newer V3 is designed to suit most babies from 7lb to 35lb and i have many customers who have used them successfully as newborns. They come with a smaller insert for newbons so as not to be too bulky.

TheNatty · 02/04/2009 21:59

yeh the newborn insert is pretty tiny i must admit.
im not hugely fussed about bulk, as i only put my babies in sleepsuits for the first 6 months anyway and they are pretty forgiving on the whole cloth bum thing, i was thinking more for the fit around the legs and back, esp as runny poo does just that.. it runs

sorry I meant I didn't use the newborn insert, just the standard nappy. I am still using it now and ds2 is 1 next week.

TheNatty · 02/04/2009 22:03

oh ok polly you mean you used the adjustable insert that the old versions come with?

You should be fine unless baby has very skinny legs - the leg hole sometimes seems a bit big.

soon2befamilyof4 · 03/04/2009 21:25

Pollyanna - what do you mean? Are you using BG pocket nappies?

nappy zone - are the V3s less bulk than the v2s then? I think all, or at least 80% of mine are v2s but plan to use on my newborn when she arrives. Didn't realize there was much difference in the v2s and v3s?

TheNatty · 04/04/2009 08:52

you know what soon i have a few V2, i find they tend to wick on to clothes at the top, the v3 has a strip of the waterproof material at the waist to stop this happening.
anyway i have about 4 V2 that i wont use because i have this problem with it. might be cos i have chunky babies tho.
i do find the V3 a better fit too, much slimmer, but it could just be me

My BG have never wicked at the top but thanks for that - I will see if any of mine have that extra bit as I am sure one or 2 were meant to be v3 but I couldn't tell the difference when they arrived.

nappyzonecannotcycleuphill · 04/04/2009 10:13

The difference in the late v2 and v3 are subtle including the waterproof strip mentioned by natty and the extra insert - i have a mix of both for my toddler and performance wise i havent noticed much apart from my earler v2 look tattier.

TheNatty · 04/04/2009 10:37

i think i have really old v2's cos mine always leak, they are actually at the bottom of the basket as emergancy nappies as i dont trust them to work.
and i use the same inserts with v2 and v3, so its not that the inserts are old.

i dunno unlucky i suppose!

yes i agree i mix and match my inserts - have you tried tumbling your dodgey outers to see if it replenishes them so to speak (disclaimer: dont melt them!!)

TheNatty · 04/04/2009 10:47

oh i thought tumbling made them less waterproof not more?
oooh that might work, i dont tumble any of my outers atm.

nappyzonecannotcycleuphill · 04/04/2009 10:49

dont normally tumble them but i had a similar proble with a happy heniny and a short hot tumble fixed it - dont do them all just try it once....

TheNatty · 04/04/2009 11:05

kool i will try that thanks

soon2befamilyof4 · 04/04/2009 11:06

Yes I have heard that a one off tumble can re-waterproof wraps. I wouldn't do it all the time because it would ruin them long term but a one off should be fine.
