My dd has started to poo her pants or on floor but not in potty WHY??!!!!

My dd aged 2 and a half, has been potty training for the past 3 weeks and she has done brilliantly once the penny finally dropped and it was quite a quick and easy process. She would happily and proudly do both wees and poos and carry the potty to the toilet to empty it.

However, for the past 3 days she has started to poo her pants and today she poo'd on her bedroom floor and we found her carrying it in her hand to the toilet!

Has anyone come across this? or have any idea why she may have an aversion to pooing in the potty all of a sudden?

I try so hard not to get angry as I know that that could compound the situation but it's so frustrating after she was doing so well.

I always try to get down on her level and reason with her and tell her when she needs a poo she is to sit on the potty but she either ignores me or covers her ears saying "no"!

How should I handle this?

My ds only used the potty for 3 days before I took it away and got him to use the loo instead, at the same age.
The thing is, not to turn it into a battle.

Reward her when she succeeds with lots of praise ( we had dolly mixtures to give him after successful trips to the loo just to establish good habits.) Ignore mistakes, or just say kindly, oh dear, if there are any accidents, as you don't want her to associate going to the loo with any negativity whatsoever.
There will be 2 steps forward, one step back for a while. Try to bring the fun back too!

She is still very young!

Good luck

Thanks kidowner! You're right, I don't want to turn this into a battle. I always give her lots of praise and choc buttons are her favourite treat for doing well! Admittedly i need to work on the ignoring mistakes side of things but do understand the value of doing that. I'll relax on this and keep it fun!

We've just finished potty training, we had a sticker chart, and she got a big sticker for every poo in the potty
