Has anyone bought or sold real nappies at an NCT sale?

If you bought, what did you pay for them? ie were they a real bargain?

If you sold, did you get a decent enough price for them after the NCT took their commission?

I'm selling some stuff at our local NCT sale and I have loads of nappies to sell. Bearing in mind that they are in immaculate condition and some of the wraps have only been used a few times, and the NCT take 30% commission, am I mad to sell them via the sale?

no - but it does depend how much money you actually want to make. if they are really unused and sparkilng, then you oculd prob price up a pack of say 2 nappies and 2 wraps for around £10-£12 each but they would have to be topnotch.

is that anything like what you had in mind?

At our last NCT sale (before I was using washables) there were quite a few nappies for sale and I think the majority were unsold at the end. From what I remember though they were all priced quite cheaply- there was a big birth to potty pack for £30, and it was only because I felt I didn't really understand washables that I didn't buy it. I would say to make a big, informative label and stick it on- how easy they are, what temp to wash at, etc, to give it more change of selling. OUr next one is the weekend after next and I am hoping to get some wraps this time so I would put them in for a price you'd be happy to get after the comission. (If any are large Motherease wraps I'll buy them from you right now )

Thanks for that . I'll probably wait and sell them online as they are in mint condition. I doubt I'd get a price to pay justice to the condition of them or esle they just wouldn't sell so I may as well save myself the hassle of all the labelling etc.

No large ME I'm afraid justwanttoknow . They're all newborn/size 1s as my bruiser has outgrown them. I bought lots of newborn stuff as I had every intention of using them from day 1 but didn't bet my bum in gear until he was about 6 weeks old, by which time he had outgrown all the teeny wraps as he's a big 'un!

I might just check out what's for sale in the way of nappies though as it looks like there might be scope for making a bit of profit buying them there and selling them on

I've bought, and they've always been way cheaper than online secondhand sources, and not just because of lack of postage. I've usually paid about £2 per wrap, or £3 for 2 and about £1 each per nappy. It was great when I was trying out different types. But definitely made me think that when I've done with mine I'd try selling online first.

For what it's worth, I bought loads of Bamboozles online at www.usednappies.co.uk and the seller got a very good deal, I got the short end of the stick They were supposed to have been used for only 3 months and in perfect condition, so I paid around £5 each. Turns out they are tatty and velcro has gone a strange brown. As a buyer I think I'd stick to local sales in future.

Sell on here, you will get much more for them.

I have bought quite a few nappies at the NCT sales, and they ae the main reason I both going. BUT they have been very cheap (I recently bought brand new ME wraps for 50p, big bag of MEOS for £2 the set, stuff like that). I was the only one there who seemed to be interested in them (although I did buy most of what was there as I knew they were bargains. Anything I didn't buy stayed there and I don't think the stuff I bough would have sold if I didn't go. You need the right person at the right time, which is easier online.

TooMuchTV · 11/04/2009 22:22

I've bought a big pack of MEOS at an NCT sale for £25 (about 10 nappies/8 wraps and some washable and disposable liners). At a more recent sale I picked up some MEOS/wraps for about £1 each - they were bundled as 2 nappies/1 wrap for £3. Didn't seem to be a huge amount of interest in them though.
