Children Playing Doctors - Have I done all I can

My DD is 5 years old, today she complained after going to the toilet (for a wee) that her bottom was hurting. I looked and it seemed a bit scratched so said that she might have scratched herself while cleaning her bottom.

Then she told me that while she was at her girl friend's house for playdate today, her friend inserted something into her vagina while they were playing doctors. I know from the friend's mother that she had some spots on her bottom and was taken to the doctor's and the doctor might have done something similar.

My DD says that she told her friend that it hurted but the friend won't stop as she was tlaking about something. (So difficult to get all the details from a 5 year old). I asked her if there was any bleeding, she said no. I asked her what was the thing and how big, it was apparently something from the ply doctor set.

I have now told her that she should be more assertive if somebody does something to her that is hurtful and never to let anyone put anything in her bottom. I am thinking of talking to her freind's mother and letting her know so the friend does not do it to herself or any other friend.

Any words of advice about whatelse I can do. I will talk to my DH about this when he comes back from work.

Definitely tell the other Mum.
It does sound like innocent childish play if she has had some osrt of thing like that done at the docs herself and yes your daughter needs to be more assertive, btu you have handled it well by not freaking out!

I think you've handled it well but you do need to talk to the other mother. She needs to talk to her DD before she plays doctors with someone whose mother isn't quite as sensible and level-headed.

remember that kids don't see their bottom as any different to their elbow say! and at that age I doubt whatever it was went to far up there
