I have 4, had Ds1 in 1997, Dd1 in 2000 and DD2 in 2001, then had a 6 year gap and had Ds2 in 2007. I have enjoyed having Ds2 later and being able to enjoy the time with him, but its hard work.

Mmmm can't wait that long though....

Yes, 4th baby has been hard work. 4th baby isn't even esp. hard as tots go, but it's just such a stretch having him. Bigger car, another set of bedding to wash. The other 3 are at school, now, so really stands out how much the toddler still depends on us.

For me, 4 was no harder than 3.

I am one of 5 and like the fact that my children have each other for support in later life, just like I do with my sisters.

Number 4 for us ended up being numbers 4 and 5 as was twin boys born July last year, I am 41 years old and I wouldn't change it for the world

Secretly - or not so secretly infact I wanted twins last time. DH thought I was bonkers. We have 2 dds and our baby is a ds. I think its partly coz the eldest dd has moved in with the baby as she is so inlove with him so I keep looking at her empty bunk bed..... Also we have a really big kitchen table and I keep thinking..... ther is lots of room for one more.

I love having 4 DC. We have DD1 (8), DD2 (6), DS and DD3 (2 in 11 days). I always wanted 4.

For me, I think each new one hasn't necessarily increased the work load; it's just that the workload hasn't gone down IYSWIM. As they get older, you expect to be doing less of the physical, baby related stuff and , obviously, if you have another baby, that bit just morphs onto the next one (i.e. sleepless nights, bf, nappies).

But I love the balance it brings to the family. The DC often pair up to play but it isn't always the same 2 in the pair, which I like.

I am definitely done now, although I think I will remain broody for the baby stage forever.

Oops - just realised I forgot to give poor DS an age. He's 4.
