Hi fourlittlefeet,

My son is three so this might not help, but he has some farm animals that float and that stick to the side of the bath that are great fun for imaginative play. Other than that just a jug and a boat.

DD has a rubber Winnie the Pooh (the Disney one, boo) and she washes him with his sponge while we wash her with hers.

Good luck

Crayola do bath crayons that you can draw on things.

An empty spray bottle.

Lots of empty drinks bottles for tipping and pouring

Bath books

My DS loves all of these

I meant empty until you filled it with water !

My dd had loads of those foam letters which stick to the bath when wet and played for ages trying to spell family members names.

'Tis still a fight to get her out of the bath

dd is 23 months but went through this stage a couple of months ago.

Tbh we sorted it by dh & I getting in the bath with her watching and us splashing water about to show it was fun. She then wanted in but with her t-shirt on so we did that, then took her t-shirt off once she was happy.

Now she's quite happy to go in the bath, usually wants "daddy" to get in too .

Toys we have are ducks (a mummy duck with 3 baby ducks), a tea set (current fave), a bath activity thing from ELC and we let her take in any toys that won't be damaged by going in the bath too.

We also let her wash herself with body wash stuff, basically put a bit on her hand and let her rub it over her belly which she likes - think she feels grown up doing it herself.

hope that helps

Oh and wrt hair washing, I lie in the bath with her lying on me (face up) and I use a sponge to wash her hair. She hates it still but we let her wash our hair afterwards and she finds that fun so soon forgets that she's been upset. We used to find that after washing her hair she would scream next time we wanted to bath her iyswim.

Muji do those crayons too, for about four quid.

fourlittlefeet · 17/03/2009 21:06

brilliant! thank you all so much... lots of possibilities here. I also like the idea of 'showing' her how fun it is! Usually when she sees me in the bath, I'm trying to sleep or hide behind the paper, not playing with daddy .

we have loads of stackable cups, square and round, DS (just turned 2) loves stacking and pouring, and collecting them all together. also have rubber duckies, and we sing the little ducks song (x little ducks went swimming one day....)

dinkystinky · 19/03/2009 16:21

watering can so she can shower herself? or an actual shower?

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 19/03/2009 16:31

FLF - L is exactly the same. Won't sit down, just starts screaming and trying to climb out. V. stressful, blardy awful phase.
