Our 6 day old has sucsessfully turned night into day.How on earth do you turn this around? In fact, can you, at this stage? My dh is back at work in a week and I am dreading being up all night and still have a toddler to entertain through the day. All advice will be very much appreciated.

Not nice -very tiring just when you need a rest.

We had the same with our first one. The advice I was given (and am following with 2nd one) is to make sure naps in the day are taken in the main living areas with all the noise going on around and in the light. Other than that, you'll just have to stick with it - they do get it in the end. Try to sleep when baby is asleep and take it in turns with other half in the night.

I would also advice to make sure at night lights are kept dim, only change nappy if solied or very wet and try to wake the baby regularly in the day. Hope this helps and things improve soon.

Feel for you Sherbit, but it will improve.

My advice is dont talk, sing, kiss cuddle etc during night feeds. Make it really boring to let baby know that night time is not waketime!

Also, take advantage of any offers of help.If someone offers to babysit/watch toddler in daytime, accept quickly before they change their mind.

Go to bed in evenings and let DH sort baby at least til he goes to bed,try to lie in at weekends if DH is around.Ignore him if he moans he is tired too,he'll soon get over it .

Thank you very much, everyone! This is first chance I have had to reply. Just have to go with the flow for just now. Baby will get into a routine soon enough, I hope. And I wanted a 3rd...haha. Thats a laugh.

Thanks again, all advice taken onboard. x
