hi,

all very boring, but calling any mum's of boys out there that can share some wisdom so i get the next new buy right!

ok ds will pee standing up into the toilet but when he sits down (with inner seat thing with handles) his little (bless!) willy doesn't point into the loo so i or he has to hold his willy to point into the loo! not ideal, so he's been using the potty (basic ikea one) front bit is higher and keeps his willy in.

i've tried him on the toilet without the added seat but too big and he doesn't like it so is there another type of seat i should be using for boys? he's yet to do a number 2 on the toilet so i'm hoping that one day he will!

anyway, any suggestions would be very welcomed!
THANKS!

I always just told DS to point his willy down. Was never a problem and they soon enough decide to just stand

DS just pushes his willy down if sitting to pee - how come not ideal?

I bought the child's loo seat from MotherCare. It goes under the seat, not on top. That way their willys aren't aiming through the gap iyswim

Try him with out teh insert seat- they are often too small for boys to use properly. on a regular seat he will be able to sit a bit futher back and point his willy in the loo, may have to take pants right off and get his legs spread out a bit more for stability to start with.

I have alittle girl who seems to have a forward pointing aim....I was getting wet feet in teh mornings.

We bought \link{http://www.mothercare.com/Fun-Zoo-toilet-training-seat/dp/B000TJHI7A/sr=1-17/qid=1236970617/re f=sr117/275-0212969-0460543?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=42764041&mcb=core} one fo this style seats which has a splash guard at the front. She occasionally shoots over the top - but it usually saves the wet feet.

I have to take ds's trousers and pants off for him to do the toilet sitting down - that way his legs are wide enough to let his willy point down into the toilet. DS has never used a toilet seat thing and just sits on the big toilet with legs wide and holds onto the front of the toilet seat. He has been peeing/pooing on the toilet from around the age of 2.

I used to get DS to tilt his hips backwards (as if trying to stick his bottom out) and that helped his willy point downwards, leaning forwards helps too. Both methods work with little girls.

Ds just holds on to the edges and doesnt fall in lol! Its the potty hes having trouble with now...aim wise lol

grapesmummy · 13/03/2009 22:12

I couldn't get those seats to work, DS knows to sit right back on the seat and to pull his trousers right down so he can open his legs wide enough. When he was younger I had to hold him and now he is 3 he can hold on to the edge of the loo seat or the radiator which is next to the loo.
