I want to teach my pupils a typical Spanish Summer time food - any ideas?

Well in Cordoba the most typical would be salmorejo, which is a thicker version of gazpacho topped off with chopped boiled egg and serrano ham. Everyone eats it here in the summer. My youngest two (born here in Spain) think it is lovely (which it is), but my older two, sadly, don't share this view. I am not sure whether it is likely to go down that well with your pupils. It's kind of a cross between a cold soup and a dip (you sort of scoop it out with bread). Yummy. Will have a think about something maybe a little more child friendly.

Well Gazpacho is probably the most well known specifically summer food.

Or barbecued sardines

Or a salad - Spaniards would typically make one with lettuce, onion, tomato, sweetcorn, tuna, then dressed with oil and vinegar and salt.

I suppose sangria is out of the question!

mmm bbqed sardines! I LIVED on them during my last hol in Spain!

I'd have thought salmorejo is child friendly.

Big spanish style salads with avocado and fresh orange wedges?

salmorejo and gazpacho are great and easy to make. if they find the idea of cold soup a bit weird, just tell them it is like a spanish smoothie!

I think the best way to describe gazpacho is as a liquid salad rather that expecting the taste of tomato soup.
