DS (2.6) has no accidents...as long as he's bare bottomed.

If he's wearing pants or trousers he just pees in them without thinking. Should I give up on the potty training? We've been at it for about a week.

Are there any techniques to help him remember? I do encourage him to sit on the loo every half an hour or so. Help!

we did a sticker chart.
also do lots of stuff with him about wet/dry, to help make him aware of being wet more.
give it another week at least, he will get there if he can manage it naked he will do it with pants.
buy him some character pants, or new trousers he wont WANT to ruin, tell him he will spoil his new pants/trousers if he wets them and to try and remember to use the potty.

Yes I think character pants may be in order. His current ones are DD's hand-me-down plain Bright Bots ones...not very inspiring.

Just wanted to check that 100% peeing in pants was an indication that I should quit. If only I could take him everywhere nekkid!

i know thats the problem with potty training boys! my daughter is currently running about in dresses with nothing else on under as she has the same problem, but as shes only 18 months im not pushing the training. she just wont wear nappies anymore.

but my son did the same thing as yours, and to a degree is the same now, i dont know whether the cold air makes them realise they need to go b4 they do iuswim? but obviously dressed they would be warm? im just guessing as its always puzzled me and not having a willy i dont know!

I've been seriously tempted to stick him in a skirt and long socks.

Hi, DS started off the same way and I think there is a big difference between him knowing when he was going to do a pee and just having to get on the potty, compared to knowing and having to alert me, pull down pants and trousers and hope on the toilet.

I wasn't that well at the time so just kept at the whole bare bottomed stuff at home but put on pull ups for outings. Recently announced he didn't want to wear a nappy any more and hasn't. I guess its up to you wether you want to wait or just leave it until he announces no more nappies himself ( second option is way easier if thats any help)

take him to the loo / pot a LOT. every 20 mins if needed. lots of bribes.

i had great success with out, the library loo is a very useful place.
