Feet to foot and cot bumpers

Not sure if this is the right section of the forum but I'll try anyway.

I have a crib for my imminent arrival to sleep in plus moses basket for downstairs and cot bed for when older. My question is when putting them in basket/crib, do they need to be feet to foot or is this only for something much larger like the cotbed?

Also, once in the cot/cotbed, how long do you keep putting them feet to foot - once they can manoeuvre themselves around cot, I would have thought there was little point?

Final question - cot bumpers. Not planning to use one but if baby is feet to foot in cot, what is the point or do you put them around the feet end of the cot?

Thanks in advance Cx

Do Feet to Foot even in the basket, it will help you get into the routine of putting your baby in bed that way.

Feet to Foot only works until the baby has learnt to move around the cot. At which point you can use a Grobag.

Cot bumpers - no evidence that they pose or don't pose a risk. see FSID: Mothercare Poll
However they aren't necessary in my view, so don't get them.

We have cot bumpers down the sides and some rolled towels as 'padding' top and bottom with our 14mo, as he's a wriggler and usually ended up with an arm or leg hanging out the cot 'bars' which then got jammed as he tried to wriggle about resulting in a screaming and waking baby.

I did hope he'd grow out of it but he still can be found head jammed in any corner of the cotbed, top or bottom!
