Struggling to keep my cool with ds :(

Ds1 is 2.11 and when we are at home, he asks to have his nappy off. He understands about how it feels to need to go to the thoilet and in the first week of letting him go nappyless at home, we had success with the potty and with him flushing it down the loo afterwards.

Since then though he hasn't bothered with the potty desipte me asking him if he needs to go etc.....It goes on the floor...Which is OK I understand that this will happen....

This afternoon though he did a poo on the floor when he was right next to his potty. I went to flush it away and came back and he had done a wee on the floor even though he knew he was right next to his potty.#

I cleaned it up and then told him that we don't do wees on the floor and that it'ss ok but next time there's your potty and that we would have to put a nappy on him.

Do you think that this appraoch is OK.

What would you do next?

This is the only bit of child care i would happily pay someone else to do, it is so frustrating, just stick with it, but it could take weeks and weeks.
good luck

I would try some kind of sticker chart if he responds to those? Make one yourself, decorate it with pictures of potties etc cut from magazines. Reward your son one sticker for each time he uses the potty. When he gets, say, ten stickers (you decide amount) agree a reward; magazine from the shop or a small toy. This worked wonders with my son and he was potty trained in two weeks. Remember that rewarding good behaviour is more positive than chastising bad and makes a much happier household!

What ever you do don't give a sweet as a reward.
Ds cottoned on fast and would squeeze out a peanut to get a sweet and then forget all over again.

good idea with the stickers will go and hunt out some airplane/train ones. I def don't want to give sweets as a reward.

I think a part of the problem is the TV - he gets very engrosed in Cbeebies and maybe forgets he needs to go in time.
