A rose bush?

Copies of some lovely classic books for when she is older: Alice In Wonderland, Ballet Shoes, The Secret Garden, What Katy Did?

A lovely print for her bedroom, not babyish but timeless eg: a print from Alice IN Wonderland or something like that?

For my christening I got a large hardback book of Disney illustrated fairy stories from my uncle which he wrote in the front page of. I still have that book, and used to choose a story from it every day when I was a kid- much more useful than a miniature piece of jewellry of silver egg cup!

Something like this or similar

Smiths do a book of prayers for babies-weirdly, when I've bought it for children, people seem to think it's original!! Christian Bookshops also sell 'story cubes' which are very simple and fun for children.

All cheap!!

There was a wonderful suggestion on another site - buy some nice baby booties and include a note saying "As you take your first steps along the road with God" or something like that. They won't last long but they would be nice for the memory box, or you could offer to have them framed for her birthday when she has grown out of them.

Robert Sabuda makes some amazingly beautiful pop up books. My ds was given The Night Before Christmas for a Christmas pressie (funnily enough!) and it really is one of those 'keep forever' pressies. I am going to get the Alice in Wonderland one for a Christening present. They are on Amazon, about 12 quid each.
