I just saw a report on BBC London about mums who train their baby to warn them when they want to poo so that they can put them on the pot, and they do that from birth ! ....which means no nappy ! (DH is delighted at the savings !)

I am quite surprised at this...anyone has tested ot ? is it really possible ? your opinion ?

thanks !

And babyhood would be called toilethood.... I just imagine the routine of DS at that age + toilet visits: Feed the kid for 40min, hold him up for other 40min to help his reflux problem, run to the toilet and spend 40min waiting for him to do his business,,---Oh! I'm afraid he wont have any time left for naps, he would be getting hungry again just after the potty. Does it mean then, that as a consequence he will be sleeping throug since week 1?

Not tested idea but I breast fed both my babies and they general pooed once a day, I do find that after a feed at a certain time they started wriggling more and and would fill their nappy. Following advice from a friend who is Chinese -I am Chinese, she said that she would grunt quietly into her dd ear and she would fill her nappy, I have to say that this works for me, mydd is 3 months old.

Please note that I don't dwell on this or spend any extra time and don't really consider it training. If I notice she happens to be giving the signs then I encourage her with a grunt and she fills nappy. I suppose if I could be bothered I could hold her over a potty/toilet, but my excuse is the cold air on her bum may put her off!

DS is 2.5 yrs old and I think I stopped "grunting" after he was about a year old, when I went back to work so he is not potty trained!

Well it doesn't have to be either nappyless from birth or 'wait until they are ready at the age of 2 or 3 or whatever'...
I think it's good to get them used to the idea of doing poo/wee on a potty or something - well, maybe not from birth, but before they are one. And you can keep the nappy on most of the time, just take it off when you think they need to go, it's still something! I mean, it's a good start. Between the age of 1 and 2 children learn a lot about how the world around them works, and they also learn that you do wee and poo in a nappy and that's it, no need to worry about it. I guess if they do a little bit of something on the potty before that age, they will be easier to potty train.
After a hard time potty training a very stuborn ds I'm convinced that 'wait till they are ready' is not quite right!

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I've seen babies in China in their open-crotch trousers, and I've seen babies in India whose families were too poor for many clothes at all; but I honestly wouldn't want to try it.

Particularly not with the Inferiorettes, who poo a LOT.
