Brushing babies teeth

Dd is now 8mo and has had teeth since she was 4mo. Since then I have brushed them morning and night.

I was asking my friend the other day how often she brushes her dd's teeth (A month older then dd and with 3 more teeth) She said she doesnt and that she sometimes gives her a flannel to chew on in the bath.

Im just interested in how often everyone does it.

I brush my 9mo DS's teeth every night before bed. (well, when he has his bath, but after his last meal, though he will have a bottle of milk later)

Soon (next few weeks) I will introduce morning brushing too.

Can't harm and (my sis is a dentist) it's proven to help later on. Even now, I notice my DS more resistant, so I think the sooner the routine is set, the better.

If they'll let you do it, thay's brilliant. Don't stop!

She loves it which is good I just though it was odd that my friend isnt making any attempts to brush them. Each to their own I suppose!

(Ex-dental nurse) You should brush them as soon as they appear preferably twice a day with the teeniest tiniest amount of fluoride toothpaste- just a smidge to minimise the amount they ingest. The fluoride helps to strengthen the enamel and helps to strengthen the developing tooth's enamel.

I do ds's twice a day and have done since he got his first tooth at 10 months. Our dentist told me that too much toothpaste at this age would cause discolouring so you just need to touch the brush with the tube

I made attempts but none of my three would ever let me do it.
I wish I'd tried more different flavours of toothpaste, though, as it turned out they all hated mint - DS3 (aged 8) still does, and I have to get the lovely apple flavour from Lidl - yuck!
