Advice needed about re useable nappies please.

We use little lamb cotton ones at the moment with disposables at night otherwise DD wakes every couple of hours for a nappy change.

I have noticed though that DD looks quite uncomfy in the size 2's. So have been thinking about getting an all in one nappy that is 'thinner' IYSWIM. I honestly wouldn't know where to start though.

If anyone has any advice WRT which reusable all in one nappies are the best. I will need quite a few as well as I am 20weeks pg with lo number 2. DD will still be in nappies by the time this lo is born.

I like the look of the wonderoos all in one, one size nappies, does anyone have any experience with them?

Bump.

I use wonderoos and really like them, mine have micro terry inserts. I have also started to use itti bitti d'lish (my favourites!) - you can just buy extra sets of the inserts and then re-use the shells.

I have cotton tots bots and don't like tham at all. I think cotton isn't nearly as absorbent as my others. As overnight nappies I use fluffles or bumhuggers with fleece wraps over. I have also used wonderoos for overnight and they didn't leak either. I have read somewhere that if you are buying wonderoos to use overnight the hemp inserts are more effective, but I haven't got those so can't really comment.

Thanks, I have never heard of the itti bitti ones.

I'm a wonderoos fan!! DS is 21 weeks and we've been using these with the small inserts and with extra fleece liners in daytime since 6 weeks - they are really absorbent compared to others I tried - motherease which are a faff to use and leave DS really wet. I use disposables at night as changing DS wakes him up . . . .

The wonderoos seem to be less bulky than other reusables - and wash and dry like a dream. I just pop them on the radiator and they are dry in a couple of hours.

I think what I am going to do is sell my little lamb size 2's and keep the size 1's for the new baby. Then buy a pack of wonderoos.

Thank you ladies.

I like the wonderoos, lots of colours, but prefer motherease - we had both boys in motherease for a few motnhs without problems although have always used moltex oko at night.

I much prefer p'tits dessous mini-maxi to Wonderoo. It's far more adjustable at both ends of the scale - has a much longer rise allowance, and no frill, which tends to sometimes wick with the Wonderoo.

Thanks everyone for the advice, I am still looking around at the moment.

I got little lambs too, and my 8 month old has nearly grown out of the size 2's! I found that it was the wrap that was most uncomfortable for him, now its on the small side, and so got some plastic pants from mothercare and have carried on using the nappy bit. He's very big to be fair, but I'm now thinking about what I'm going to put him in as he gets older and even bigger?!

Don't commit to one type, insertwitty, try one of everything before you decide! You can always sell off what you don't like and recoup a fair percentage of the price. I am a big fan of BumGenius, Blueberries and Itti Bittis. Don't like the look of Wonderoos, but never tried them.

The BGs and BBOSs have the advantage of being BTP so my scrawny seven pounder of a DS3 can wear them. As could DS2 but he has decided not to wear nappies any more .

For nights I love Baby Beehinds bamboo BTPs - DS2 still uses one of those with a fleecy Stacinator. DS3 is still a bit tiny for them - still in his XS Sandy's...

JoLucy · 03/03/2009 23:02

I love my Bumgenius, and even DH was impressed. I've also been getting on well with Kushies, but I wouldn't say they were slim!
Sorry to go a bit off topic, but can I ask advice of those of you who use cloth at night, please? What's the reason for using fleecy wraps, as opposed to PUL? Thanks!

With fleece there is lots of breathability so wee is constantly being evaporated. Nappies never feel quite so sodden in the morning. I never have leaks at night any more and I have done in the past with PUL.

Wool is even better, apparently, but I know DH would ruin it when I wasn't looking.

Fleece takes loads of abuse, washes at any temperature, and is dry in a matter of minutes. Love it!

swampster · 04/03/2009 12:20

And there's nothing slim about fleece

JoLucy · 05/03/2009 22:52

Thanks!
Any recommendations for night nappies?

swampster · 06/03/2009 09:15

I love Baby Beehinds bamboo BTPs. They might be quite good for you as they should fit your DD and the new baby (though probably not quite from birth).

But if you want a purpose-built night nappy (at a price!) track down a Holdens Landing Bedbug. Wee Notions are also very good - apparently, I've not tried either of them but I'd like to.

feralgirl · 06/03/2009 22:34

JoLucy - I've just invested in a couple of Night Notions from Wee Notions and they are AMAZING. My Bum Genius were useless for supersoaker DS and we were doing up to 4 changes a night.
Night notions are soooo soft and lovely and the web site is just addictive! I'm using them with a Poppolini wool outer and it's changed our lives.
Can't sing the praises of wool enough btw - totally waterproof, bizarrely antibacterial so it doesn't smell and you only have to wash it every couple of weeks. Try talking to lovely Kim at www.cuddlebabes.co.uk

Am now bribing my mother to start knitting for DS.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 06/03/2009 22:44

Bum Genius are a brilliant day nappy, as it's just like a disposable.

The shape of your DC is the key aspect. Both mine are skinny, but long, so some nappies just don't work, or rather are leaky. Wonderoos are not a good fit for the skinny baby.

I like:

Sandy's extra small
Tots Bots Flexitot
Baby Beehind
