What do you regret?

Do you regret any of your parenting desicions? What would you have done differently, if you could?
I've got a nearly 5 years old ds and a new baby, and have been thinking about the things I'll try to do differently with her..
Just wondering what other people think!

I regret nothing with ds1, but I do feel sad tht my dh has big regrets. He spent so much time resenting the changes a small child made to our lifestyle that he didnt enjoy ds1 as much as he could have (and he was delightful - now 8 and not quite so! ). Ironically there is no obvious light at the end of the tunnel with that intensive hands on stage with ds2 (he has special needs), yet dh has accepted him so completely (thank goodness ) and seems to get more pleasure from him as a babe than he did ds1

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I would have worried less knowing things would happen when they happen. In particular, I spent ages worrying about how to make friends at toddler groups so that ds could "learn to be social". I found it really hard work and completely unsuccessful but have met mothers and toddlers in other situations and ds has got friends naturally without my having to worry so hard. So, next time (and from now on!) would try and enjoy each moment as it is without worrying about next stages.

I regret not just sitting and looking at my ds when he was first born, not taking the time to just really get to know him over those first few precious days - instead i was worrying about everyone else, our dog, the lodger who was still with us despite not meaning to be and having a bit of the baby blues. They grow up too fast and i missed that awe and wonder at the very beginning - but next time.......
