Is 'slapped cheek' infectious once the rash appears?

I'm putting it in parenting as I'm hoping for quicker responses!

The GP says infectious until the rash has gone and the UCH/Great Ormond St Hospital website says you are infectious for 1-2 weeks before the rash appears and no longer infectious once the rash appears.

So - he has a rash but fine in himself now - nursery tomorrow?

Rash means you are no longer infectious.

I was told once it stops appearing and starts to fade then it is no longer infectious. AFAIK the rash can come and go for a few weeks afterwards and is no longer infectious. DS had it a couple of months ago when I was 16 weeks pg so looked into it quite a lot! I kept him off school for 4 days, by the Thursday it was staring to fade so he went back to school on the Friday.

"People infected with slapped cheek syndrome can pass it on without knowing during the early part of the illness but when the rash appears you or your child are no longer contagious to others." from the NHS site

Cece- did you DS's rash cover his whole body and was it itchy? DS has bigger blotches on face and cheeks but a more dense pinprick 'viral' rash over the rest of his body and it's all bumpy and dry feeling. He's not sleeping very well at all and I wondered if it could be the rash bothering him....

Thanks Lou x
