i really don't know what to do. dd 3yo and still not telling me if she needs the potty. Have spent nearly two months potty training, which basically seems to be cleaning up after spills, and the washing machine on constantly. She doesn't seem to realise if she needs to go, but she is due to start pre school in september and they won't take her unless she's dry. Have just cleaned the biggest poo off her, and feel like i've hit a wall. anyone help on where to go from here? do i put her back in nappies until she can tell me, or do i stay on damage control?

Do not panick, when she is ready it will only take a week max, my ds didn't train until he was 3.6
Your only stressing yourself out

Have you tried her completely naked bottom half for few days as ds had accidents if he had pants on, left him naked a couple of days then into pants by end of week dry day and night

i know i probably should, but worried about accidents as laminate floor, and she skidded big time on a puddle in the summer (i just wasn't quick enough with the towels). She also holes herself up in the toyroom most the day, so have to almost beg to get her to sit on the potty

Shes maybe not ready just yet,
with ds I used stickers and thomas pants and it worked
dd is over 2 now and I tried this week and shes not ready as she'll say when shes doing a poo but if ask her does she want her nappy off she'll say no, she nows when shes going she just not ready to tell me enough time to get to potty so I'm leaving her until the summer
Don't be feel pressurized by the prospect of school again it took me a week to do my other 2dcs so you'l have plenty of time of the summer

just spoken to her and she says she needs to go back into a nappy as she's too small to wear knickers and doesn't like the potty. she was also doing this a year ago when i first bought up the subject of potty training properly.

i just worry i'm going to do something wrong which means she'll be in nappies forever as she doesn't really get the chance to be around other children.

No no don't worry, although I wouldn't keep putting her in and out of nappies, but I think if your constantly chasing her about I would leave it, I hate seeing people constantly quiz there kids about going to the toilet, 3 is still young
I've said it before I don't know who thought 2 was the magic no

Try a My Wee Friend Potty Sticker

Brilliant incentive! Some on ebay ATM

RandomStranger · 17/02/2009 13:21

I am sure that preschools and nurseries are not allowed to refuse a child on the grounds that they are not potty trained

sez23 · 17/02/2009 13:36

i don't really know, but the information says that they need to be dry.

i am keeping her out of nappies, i just feel awful. I am one of those people that run around asking if they need to go, but i only do it once an hour! normally she wees then, but she has never told me when she needs to go, and if i leave her she's more than happy to just wee everywhere

and how do you get children to the potty on time if you don't ask them?

OP posts:
PlumBumMum · 17/02/2009 16:43

Thats why I think its better to wait so that they tell you, tell her you will give her a reward for telling you she needs to go to the toilet
