mini potty success

dd is 19 months and we have had a potty about since xmas and she has weed near it a few times and finished a wee in it.
last night she sat on it before bath time and pooed on it, which we praised! This morning she pooed on it again.
every nappy change we have let her sit on it but she hasn't weed.
i am planning on just carrying on letting her sit on it each nappy change for now, does that sound about right?

Sounds like a good plan if she is happy with it and so are you.

NorktasticNinja · 15/02/2009 19:55

Fantastic news about the poo

It sounds like a good plan. Just one tip, she will almost certainly wee just after she wakes and just after she's eaten (I know this from reading up on EC) so if you can catch a wee or two by putting her on the potty at these times too she'll probably get the idea a bit more quickly.

Ooops, I probably should have mentioned that the timing thing worked a treat with my DD. Wouldn't have recommended it otherwise!

She's 15 months and has been weeing on the potty at change time reliably for quite a while now.

she just weed on the potty just before her bathtime and she was so happy (so were we ).
i think she is too young to actually try pants as she isn't asking for the potty, we are just putting her on it and asking her if she needs a wee or poo.
she hasn't pooed in her nappy all day.

Weeeeheeeee

We're not doing pants yet eithe.

omg, she has pooed on potty again this morning, what a good few days she has had.
i'm tempted to buy her pull ups?
I have asked her to pull down her trousers but she can't get the hang of it, she can take off sleepsuits and pull tops over her head but she grabs a handful or trousers and nappy and tries to pull them off and it doesn't work.

Wow that's great and very early.
Personally I would avoid pull ups - for me it's either pants or nappies - I found they confused my ds - but you may have better luck with them.

ilovetochat · 16/02/2009 11:52

maybe i will stick with nappies till she is asking for a wee/poo cos she is till having plenty of wet nappies at the moment.

just had a dry nappy and she weed on the potty so another success.
i have been washing the potty out and drying it with toilet roll, should i be sterilising it?
She has a potty downstairs and upstairs but we only have an upstairs toilet so i have just had to carry a full potty upstairs whilst following her up to make sure she didn't fall, am i missing something as this wasn't easy. i know i could leave her downstairs but she likes the pouring into the toilet and flushing part and then washing her hands.

update, yesterday she did both poos on potty and today she has done 2 wees and a poo.
took the potty out to playgroup and she sat on it but did nothing.
no poos in nappy since friday, yeah!
did you take potty everywhere?

PlumBumMum · 18/02/2009 16:07

Yeah for no poo's
I would agree with timmette pants or nappy my dd is currently sitting with just jammie bottoms on after a wee and poo today fingers crossed

I tried to stay in for a week and by the end the other 2 dcs were able to tell me when they needed to go and I just brought them to toilet kept small potty in car for long journeys etc

ilovetochat · 18/02/2009 16:35

what comes first, dd asking for potty or me putting her in pants?

OP posts:
PlumBumMum · 18/02/2009 16:40

keep her for a day with no pants on, and then just put pants on, as if you put nappy on she might think she can still go if needs be
If she has pants on and has an accident she'll realise as she'll feel it better and won't be long wanting the potty
favourite pants are good too

Thats were my plan is at a loss need stephanie pants!(seen them in woolies)

PlumBumMum · 18/02/2009 16:41

Although my dd just went straight to pants, ds needed 2 days without
