Calling all you nappy fiends - what do you use for day and for night, if you use separate systems?

I'm very vaguely contemplating changing my nappy system.

We currently use Tots Bots Bamboozles (size 1), which are fine, but as DS is beginning to sleep more at night, and therefore get changed less, they are less and less useful - he doesn't always leak through, but his bottom is absolutely soaked by the morning, and severe leakages are not unheard of.

ILs bought us full packs of both the size 1s and the size 2s, (2s are unopened and seem to go for a reasonable amount on ebay), so I'm just wondering what I might replace them with if I were to get rid of them.

I love the look of the itti bittis, but only because they're pretty colours! But I have no idea what to use at night, which is really the crucial bit.

ds is nearly 5 months, doesn't have terribly chunky legs and isn't a super duper heavy wetter, but soaks through a bamboozle if he has it on for 9 hours at night and occasionally soaks through one in his 'soggy period' from about 7-10am (the rest of the day he won't come close to soaking through even if he has the nappy on for 4-5 hours).

I'm not averse to something like wool at night, but I know nothing about it, so need educating on whatever you recommend!

Thanks very much

I use ellas house bumhuggers and an airflow wrap on both dd3 & dd4 overnight. During the day i use a mix of itti, blueberry onesize, wonderoos, modern baby pop ins.

Thanks 4!

Seriously contemplating trying a bumhugger for night time. And have been extremely naughty and ordered an itti bitti d'lish to try. eeeek. I was doing so well resisting the urge to buy more nappies!

We use BumGenius/Lollipop microfibre + wrap during the day (and occasionally a Bumble if we run out of the others) and Fluffles boosted with a prefold at night. DD is also almost 5 months but has super-chunk legs and (I think - PFB) is a heavy wetter.

(We were in disposables at night until about a week ago )

I do feel quite jealous of everyone with their new nappies though - mine are on my second child - my first is 5 and when I bought them there wasnt the choice there is now [sound of one tiny violin]

When i had dd1 (7) and dd2 (3) i had 2 dozen terry's, 3 nippas and rubber pants from boots That was the total extent of my stash and they lasted from birth to potty and cost me about £30 Now im a cloth addict

Jesus 4, you have come a long way since then girl!!

Hopefully - I have used Bumhuggers, didn't contain poo very well for us but did the job with wees. I think they smelt awful when wet but I've since realised that you can't use more than a couple of grains of powder or hemp/bamboo will stink. If you get one, get a new-style so that you can add a cheapo microfibre cloth, hemp must have a mf jobbie too as it absorbs wet slowly so always best to have a quick absorbing material such as mf on top.

I now use Weenotions Night Notions, very absorbent, bamboo which imo is much nicer than hemp and a much better fit on E, also fleece lined (Bumhugger is too). More expensive too unfortunately but you can get them at a more reasonable price on 2nd hand market, but if you're buying Itti's then you'll be used to the eye-watering price!

lolipop I know I have enough nappies to nappy a whole ward of babies

I'm like 4, I've only ever used terry nappies and plastic pants on DS1 and 2, although I use nappy pins and not nippas. It's the best nappy system for either day or night imo. Terry nappies are so versatile, because you can fold them in so many ways to fit different shapes and sizes of DC! I use a combination of the kite and Jo folds. Both my DS are very heavy wetters, but their night nappies are easily boosted to cope with the problem.
