DS2's Nappy Leaks Almost Every Night - What Can I Do??

We've always had problems with ds2 leaking at night no matter what size or brand we use.

He's not the best sleeper as it so it a real PITA when he wakes soaked through, even his sleeping bag.

He's 12 months and fairly big for his age (not fat though IYSWIM) and he's already in size 6 nappies - so really don't know what to try from here. HELP!!!!

I have this prob with my ds. Have also tried a number of different brands and sizes but he still gets up soaking wet all down 1 side....
We tried not giving him any more to drink after his tea and he doesn't have milk at bedtime, so not sure where all this pee is coming from!!
Have you tried pull-ups? They're supposed to be more absorbant than nappies I think, but didn't work here.
Don't know what to suggest, I've given up now but luckily it doesn't seem to bother my ds

Are you using disposables? You could try cloth for overnight as you can customise them a bit more. I've always changed nappies overnight and at your DS2's age I was doing four a night.

Hi connorTraceptive, have you tried putting a booster pad in at night, Mothercare do good disposable booster pads for their smart nappy system, but you could, also add them to disposables, other than that as ches said, have you tried cloth, i use them and have a very wet boy, i find cloth great for night and i use a booster too, the cotton bottoms or motherease outer wraps are very waterproof and good at containing leaks around the side and legs

My ds2 is 8 months and we've had similar problems.

Our solution is to put a cotton bottoms inner wih a fleece liner inside a size 4 huggies nappy and that contains it all. If we're going away we use kotex night time sanitary towels instead of the washable inner and peel off the back plastic layer so the wee can still get through to the nappy.

If your son is leaking over the top of his nappy waist band you need to make sure his willy is pointing down when you put the nappy on.

If it is pointing up he will wee straight up and it wil leak out as there is almost nothing for it to soak into near the waist band. Pointng his willy down will ensure he wees into the thick pad between his legs.

Make sure his nappy is not too big or too small as well.

You can tell if he is weeing over the waist band as he wil be wet round his tummy. If he is leaking around the leg you will find he is wet around his bottom and legs.

size 6 does seem huge, saying that ds1 was in size 5 by then!
Perhaps try ME airflow wrap over the top - they really are excellent. Waitrose sells white s, m or l for £5.50 each (no m/l or any with the cute little themes on).

Both of mine used to leak a couple of times a week with disposables (lots of different makes and sizes) but haven't leaked at all with cloth. I am quite shocked really - especially as overnight I just use tots bots fleece wraps with fluffles.

A wrap and a booster designed for cloth nappies is a great idea for over a dispo if you don't want to go all in for a cloth nappy. Otherwise try the Aldi or Lidl own label nappies. We found them generously sized and more absorbent than the branded nappies.
