Quick Flip Nappies advice needed...Flame, Trufflebum etc

My beautiful big 6 month old DS has outgrown his Bumgenius nappies and as he is practically crawling should slim down into them again soon but in the mean time we have some Motherease stay dry one size nappies we are using with wraps for daytime.

Following a suggestion from trufflebum I am trialling a quick flip nappy for night.

I just got a medium cotton QF nappy which I put over a motherease stay dry nappy so his skin stays nice and dry. I am very impressed he is still asleep upstairs and as far as I can tell he hasn't leaked (definately no leaks at 8am) and he didn't wake up as much either, though that might be nothing to do with nappy but hurrah!!!

So I am converted I need a couple more to cover for washing, however I am a unsure whether to get bamboo or cotton and size wise whether to get medium or large.

I understand bamboo takes longer to dry and is softer but cotton is cheaper.

The medium QF nappy we have (with or without the motherease nappy underneath) looks like it only just fits DS. DS was 21.5 lbs at 22 weeks old and a bit heavier by now. However it is much narrower at the front than the nappies we are used to. The straps barely meet at the front but the large nappies are meant for 18 month old babies up, so surely they will be far too big on our cute, chunky 6 month old !?!

So should I be getting :-
: bamboo or cotton ?
: medium or large ?

I am OK with nippas and I assume if I get plain or poppered nappies I can use nippas with them ?

Any suggestions welcome.

I prefer bamboo - they are that bit slimmer which is great with qfs as they are so huge anyway.

Is your medium a new one or a second hand one? I know they changed the cut at one point to make them a bit bigger.

The large are quite a bit bigger so would probably swamp him, but to be fair if you nippa and your wrap is big enough it would save money in the long run (I remember putting size 3 tots on DS at about 6 months for night).

I never got on very well with the poppered ones, so would probably say to just skip the poppers and go for the plain nippa version.

I got it 'new' off Ebay so no idea if it is the old or new version...could I tell from the label ?

Right, no poppers, bamboo

Is bamboo easy to wash, I chuck nappies in a 40c wash with a prewash cycle would bamboo do alright with that ?

So I could get away with large size, I am reluctant to buy another medium when he seems to be only just fitting into them.

I'm not worried about swamping DS after all these are night nappies. If I used a large QF nappy snuggly nippered with a large wrap, they shouldn't leak even if they are big ?

Lastly how much do you sell large bamboo QF nappies for and do you have any of the LK fleece covered pvc lined wraps ?

Newer ones tend to have the size on the label rather than on a second little label inside the qf one (if that makes any sense??)

Yup, that washing would be fine.

If you buy a large you can always compare the sizes and if it looks like it will be too large return it

£9.50

I have white ones in small and medium, I have it in my head that the medium are generous and would fit over that lot but I haven't used them myself. I know that my friend was testing them for me and she needs a LOT of padding on her DD and they fitted and she loved them.

Just checking £9.50 is for a large bamboo QF nappy. ?

And you have medium little kiwi white fleece with PVC linings wraps ? How much are they ?

Yup, £9.50 for the large qf bamboo, £7.50 for the wrap

BabiesEverywhere · 08/02/2009 10:35

It doesn't have any size on it. The label is on one of the top arms, it is a green nappy if that helps

Could well be one of the slightly smaller ones then. The size used to be hidden inside the main label

BabiesEverywhere · 08/02/2009 10:43

Yes, there is a small 'M' label inside the main label, so I have got an older style one.

How much bigger are the new versions ?

Impressed through, this nappy has been on my DS all night and is only slightly damp at the back !!!

Not hugely bigger iirc, but they did have slightly longer tabs.

I love quick flips as night nappies - it is where they have the extra layers right the way round rather than just where you put the booster. Flameboy used to wear a bamboo square underneath his because he had a habit of pooing about 10pm, and it was then possible to just whip off the square and the quick flip was then fine for the rest of the night

Flame,

You mentioned returns, so if I bought one medium and one large nappies and compare the sizes to the nappy I already have. Could I return the unwanted size for another in the right size and pay any difference in cost ?

If so I would like to buy one medium bamboo QF nappy, one large bamboo QF nappy and one little kiwi white fleece PVC lined medium wrap.

DO you have a link to your website shop or can you cat me an invoice ?

shop

Yup, the comparing etc is fine.

returns policy (you don't really need that, but just in case!)

I have just noticed I only have the medium bamboos in popper, have them in nippa in cotton.
