Training pants - worth it or not?

DD 2.5 has decided that nappies are no longer for her. Hurrah! At home she oftern gets to tthe potty in time, but I mop us several times a day, which is fine by me. The question is, what should we do when we go out? After an embarassing wee on the library floor (hers!) I'm not keen to risk pants all the time but I don't want to confuse her with sometimes pants and sometimes nappies.
So are training pants a good compromise?

Just in case anyone else is thinking about training pants, I did get some cloth ones. DD's not convinced they are real pants but in any case she's had no accidents for three days now so hopefully it will be a quick process (touches wood). Thanks for all your advice.

i found normal pull ups confused my son he thought they were just another nappy so just done his toilet business as usual but when i began to dress him in ordinary pants he didn,t like it when he got wet and soon learned to use the potty/toilet. he still has accidents but i think pull ups were a waste of money training my son

I think training pants are a waste of time and money imo. DC are either in nappies or not. There's no half way house. DS is a very heavy wetter, and training pants just can't contain the wee. I would'nt risk him not having a nappy on for going out, and long journeys. I've always used terry nappies, and they're better for potty training, because DS now knows when he's wet or dirty, because he can feel it!
