Has your snow day been like an episode of who rules the roost?

I am lucky that dp works from home so dd is by no means attention starved and has someone on call.

But I have had such a lovely day at home with dd, we have baked, painted, been out to lunch, made a snowman and taken photos of the snowy view. It makes me quite sad to have to go back to work tomorrow even though I love my job.

I don't think I've seen who rules the roost. Today was more like Custer's last stand for me. I'm exhausted.

It is a programme where parents take a week at home and then re-evaluate their work life balance.

Yes- know what you mean completely, twinset. Have had the loveliest 2 days with my boys and partner.

Of course one day in snow that appears once every 18 years is not a fair comparison. We also could not afford to live where we do if I did not work and I think that part of the fun of our snow day was being here.

But it has made me think.

True enough for us too. Maybe it's partly because it's such a break from the usual working routine that these days have been so wonderful.

Oh, I think I may have seen an episode of that. Do they take a week each? I'm not sure that even a week would be very representative. I stopped working last Easter and it took a few months for me to get into my stride with it.

Anyway, DS has gone back to school today. Hurrah! It wasn't so bad having a couple of days off, although it was tiring, because at least a lot of other children were off as well so DS had others to play with. I had just over 3 weeks last year when we had removed DS from school and were looking for a new school which were a bit of a nightmare because all the other kids were at school and the activities were aimed at pre-schoolers.

Ha all that business was dealt with by the childminder who is a stronger (and nicer) woman than me. I trudged through the snow to work and had a lovely time.

I agree a week is not representative , I have weeklong, fortnight and six week breaks with dd and they still have that magical factor.
