Should I change daytime sleep pattern of 1 yr old?

Hello

This is related to my other recent post on managing 1 yr old constantly on the move. We have a great playcentre not far away but the main activities I can do there with soon to be 12 month old are in the afternoon - so 1.30 - 3.30pm. Some days are also in the morning 10-11.30am.

Problem is DD has started not napping at all in the morning and is then tired in the afternoon so we are missing stuff we could do and hence I am staying in the house with her too much.

Should I consider getting her up an hr earlier in the morning - she is waking about 7.15 now most days - sometimes later. She then might sleep a bit in the morning and then have an hr 3.30 - 4.30pm when we come home from the group (she does often fall asleep in the car).
She hasn't been in this pattern for long.

I would aim to go out in the morning and then let your lo sleep after lunch and into the afternoon. I wouldnt (personally) interfere with the morning wake time as it seems like a good one to me. My 2 year old still sleeps after lunch until it is school pick up time so 12.30/1pm till 2.30pm.

I agree with Seona, would try to stick to busy mornings and sleepy afternoons if poss. My 14mth old DS wakes at 7am, runs himself ragged all morning (he is, like yours, constantly on the move), 12ish lunch, then (heaven!) sleep from 1 - 3pm. Goes to bed at 7pm.

I always find it strange that so many of these places have lunchtime activity sessions - i'd have thought most under 2s would be having a nap at that time!
I agree with the others - you're very lucky to have a 7.15 waker, & i'd be loath to change anything. But then i was quite strict about DDs nap times, as she was a really difficult baby until we worked out when she needed her sleeps, & i did stick firmly to her lunchtime nap in the cot.
I do see what you mean tho, i often missed out on things with friends & their kiddies if they happened over lunchtime, but my most important thing was to have a happy baby, which she only was with a good sleep. I just caught up with friends at other times!
Sorry to waffle, hope you find things to do at other times
